I was an animation meme kid. I’d like to think it shows. And because of that, I had the bright idea to try to mash as many animation meme songs up as I possibly could. Originally, I tried to make it more of an acoustic, poppy cut, but it just wasn’t clicking, so I pivoted to hyperflip. I had written the waltz bridge during that first part of production, but I thought it had a lot of potential here. It details my perspective on nostalgia and death. After the “revelation” of the piece, I start to use more of the recent memes before bringing it full circle again—as of trends, and as of life. Meow.
