Jerry Stiller made me laugh when I was crying as a kid.
His son did amazing things with his family and talent. 
I aspired to be like a Stiller and help others feel something different.
Even a simple two word phrase, in a moment, can alter everything.
So many two word phrases do that, I am glad this is one of them.

Serenity Now

Teenage years in Chicago with my cousins, watching music videos and playing basketball in the driveway.
I saw Chappelle's Show for the first time and never laughed so hard before from a sketch comedy show. 
He walked away from money, fans, life after that show. And discovered himself newly in a way that inspires me to make tunes my way.

Change Of Heart

Friend of mine went to court and needed a ride.
While he advocated for himself inside
I sat in the parking lot
recording the birds while making this tune.
He expanded himself that day and 
I loved hearing all about it over tea.

Will Wait For You Outside

This week, I made a new friend.
KC and I connected over IG so naturally
it felt like I was a kid geeking out on 
what inspired us most. 
His two kids, 6 and 8 years old, inspired this tune.
I pray we can enjoy being kids this week.

I wished to be interrupted by something 
Anything. Everything. All at once.
Not to escape, but to feel the moment.
Then a friend reminds me I can go anywhere 
if I slow down to be aware.

Holidays have been mixed experiences for me.
Included 6 houses, love wrapped in foil leftovers,
and so many memories.
I couldn't be more thankful.

Family Dinner

My momma taught me to "put some food on dem feelings".
This morning was rough from a sleepless night.
Still, a hot bowl of pho helps carry these burdens
and bring some warmth to my face again.
