Life Wasn’t Always Good presents BangWiz’s debut with a clear throughline: survival, growth, and the lasting weight of environment. Across the album, he moves between reflection and confrontation, documenting a life shaped by poverty, violence, fractured relationships, and early exposure to instability. There’s a consistent emphasis on self-reliance, with success framed as something earned independently, often in spite of both circumstance and people around him.

At the same time, the project isn’t one-dimensional. Moments of vulnerability surface in tracks centered on family, fatherhood, addiction, and loss, offering contrast to the more aggressive, assertive records. Relationships—whether romantic, platonic, or familial—are often portrayed as unstable or conditional, reinforcing a recurring theme of isolation. BangWiz frequently acknowledges attempts at growth, but also the difficulty of fully breaking away from ingrained habits and surroundings.

Sonically and lyrically, the album stays grounded in realism, rejecting performative narratives in favor of lived experience. There’s a deliberate tension throughout between who he was, who he is, and who he’s trying to become, with no clean resolution by the end. Instead, Life Wasn’t Always Good functions as a documentation of that in-between space—where progress is real, but the past is never fully behind him.
