Dramatiker og instruktør Richard Nelson gæstede GROB d. 19. september 2014 til en åben samtale om udfordringen ved at skabe et større værk som forfatter, instruktør og skuespiller.

Richard Nelson, udråbt til at være den nye amerikanske Tjekhov, har skrevet og instrueret teater, film og musicals siden 1975, hvoraf flere er hædret med Obie, Tony og Olivier Awards.
Blandt hans hovedværker er The Apple Family (2010–2013). The Apple Family er et drama som mest af alt minder den moderne TV-serie: 4 forestillinger med det samme karaktergalleri, som man følger over 4 år.
I The Apple Family bliver det intime familiedrama sat i en større kontekst hvor samtidens politiske og moralske dilemmaer spiller direkte ind i middagssamtalen.
Hvordan påvirker mordet på JFK, præsidentvalget og 9/11 hverdagslivet og den tilsyneladende så vaneprægede middagsbordssamtale i families trygge skød?

The American playwright and director Richard Nelson held a master class at Theatre Grob on the 19th of September 2014.

“The Apple Family” is among Richard's most notable works: 4 plays written and staged over 4 years following the life of members of an american family. 

The intimate family dramaa is set in a context of big poltiical and cultural events in contemporary society. The Apple Family investigatate how events on the big stage, is reflected on the small one. How does the JFK murder, presidential elections and 9/11 influence the conversation around the dinner table?

Richard Nelson have written and directed theatre, film and musiclas for over 40 years. He's been awrded with Obie, Tony and Olivier Awards

Lørdag d. 21. september 2013 holdt den engelske professor Richard Jenkins et foredrag om paradokserne forbundet med danske identitet i et hversdageksistentielt lys. Richard Jenkins er forfatter til den tankevækkende bog om den danske folkesjæl Being Danish – Paradoxes of Identity in Everyday Life og professor i sociology ved Sheffield Universitet. Oprindeligt uddannet social antropolog, med en række feltstudier i Nordirland, England, Wales og Danmark. Blandt hans andre værk er Social Identity, Rethinking Ethnicity og Foundations of Sociology
Saturday 21st september 2013 the british professor Richard Jenkins did a talk on the paradoxes of being Danish from the perspective of everyday existentialism.  Richard Jenkins is the author of the thought provoking book ”Being Danish – Paradoxes of identity in Everyday Life” and Professor of Sociology at the University of Sheffield. Trained as a social anthropologist, he has done field research in Northern Ireland, England, Wales and Denmark. Among other works, he is the author of Social Identity, Rethinking Ethnicity and Foundations of Sociology
