You always meet twice: those who are familiar with Carhartt Radio know that PHON.O already played some music at our station. As one-half of CLP he produced with his friend Chris De Luca our very first Carhartt Radio edition in November 2008. Now he is back with a collection of music from the labels 50Weapons and Monkeytown - two record companies guided by the tasty leadership of Modeselektor. On 50Weapons PHON.O released his third longplayer Black Boulder last May and returned with a thrilling mix of captivating Dubstep, froggy UK Garage, deep Berlin Techno, and some foggy Dub atmospheres. Besides his own music his mix for Carhartt Radio features straight and edgy Techno from such artists like Addison Groove, Cosmin TRG, Marcel Dettmann, or Modeselektor.

Rekord 61 - is the stage name of Russian producer Alexander Babaev. Alexander was born in 1985 and currently lives in the heart of the Russian Federation, Moscow.
The love for music began in Alexander‘s early childhood, when he was just 4 years old. At such a young age Alexander most of his time spent at listening to records on the legendary gramophone in the Soviet Union - Vega-108. Parents say that at that time it was impossible to divert the child from the gramophone. Recently he recorded his debut EP - Kaskad and invited the stunning Berlin DJ and producer Phon.o (Shitkatapult, 50 Weapons, Monkeytown) to make a remix. Starting from 15th April you can check the result of this work!

Kaskad EP - The inspiration for this work was the idea of monumental art, technical aesthetics of giant industrial structures, created in the middle of the last century. Phon.o created an amazing remix. He left massiveness, reworked many elements and all wrapped in a beautiful „theatrical“ shell – that’s how Phon.o described his idea. The second track on side B - Prostor. This work is full of energy and impetuosity, the sensations that can occur in a completely open space, when a man, like a wind, fully unlimited.

Over the last few weeks, we've frantically tried to find new venues for the imminent Phon.o dates heading our way this weekend. Frankly, we've been so caught up, we almost forget about this exclusive mix on hand.

And now that's we've found new venues, we just need to let slip at how bloody good these two shows are going to be.

In a-first-of-its-kind in India, we're co-hosting the tour with 50 Weapons, a prolific and pioneering Berlin based label run by the world renown German techno duo, Modeselektor.

The duo have released dubstep, techno, house and electro to the wider world. Many are artists that have already made a name elsewhere, but just as many aren't. The aforementioned Phon.o is on route to becoming a household name thanks to his recent album that came out of the label to much critical acclaim.

Running for just over an hour, the mix showcases a sonically diverse range of electronica which we're hoping to hear more of in these two shows. We're beyond excited and you should be too.
