Berlin- and Tokyo-based producer Głós (@prayforglos) joins the Φ sessions with a deep dive into textured sonic storytelling. Known for his boundary-defying approach and cinematic sensibility, the Non-Print label head blends broken rhythms with ambient layers, crafting immersive soundscapes that challenge convention. I wanted to reward patient listeners with something that gradually unfolds, something that at moments feels eschewing and idiosyncratic, playing with tone and rhythm in ways that contrast trends. 

The story is propelled by this sense of futurism that has always existed in our music and our culture, while being firmly rooted in history's oldest instinct - forward motion.

Up next in the series we have Giri, the Neapolitan DJ and producer who discovered electronic music composition at a very young age through a video game: Music 2000. From that moment on, he simultaneously pursued his passion for synthesizers, sound design, DJing, and vinyl collecting.

The artist has a natural inclination towards the darker and more industrial frontiers, such as the second wave of Detroit and ’90s/2000s UK techno. These influences shaped his distinctive deep sound, built on complex, intricate structures and driven by a powerful groove and rhythmic intensity.

In 2019, the first EPs under the name Giri were released by Evod, Awry, and Prophet, and in 2020, he founded his own label, Antiterra Records. A year later, in July 2021, he released his first concept album, Antichthon, a 19-track project, on the label that had influenced him the most over the years: Jeff Mills’ Axis Records, as part of The Escape Velocity project.

Giri caught our ears with his ominous and sci-fi-inspired releases on labels such as No Signal, Immaterial.Archives, Molecular, and many more. His hypnotic percussion and eerie synths give you the urge to lock in and drift away.

For this mix, he went for ballsy rhythms with an intimate edge. From meticulously crafted layering that transports you far away, to broken patterns that feel like industrial machinery engineered to make you move.

The term “prodigy” gets tossed around a lot, and in most cases it’s a meaningless descriptor, but with Franco there’s no doubt in my mind it not only applies but underestimates his talents. 

As a producer in his early twenties, his resume already puts guys twice his age to shame. Having dropped masterpieces on Bas Mooy’s MORD Records, ØM’s WARM-UP label, a double vinyl on the incredible Nachtstrom Schallplatten (where I had the honor to contribute the cover art), Illegal Alien Records, [R]3volution Records, Prophet Recordings, a collaborative LP with the underground icon Kolpos, and on and on and on. There’s no one who has accumulated the level of respect and appreciation from the best of the best in such a short time and at such a young age. 

Today’s set is a journey through dark, hypnotic textures and assertive rhythms that only Franco can deliver. To have such a sophisticated, defined artistic signature so early in his career is mind boggling and I’m here to support, witness, and cheer my brother every step of the way. 

This is techno with no compromise, no filler, no “crowd favorites.” If you’re with it, welcome to the tribe. If not, we don’t give a….

In anticipation of Cityfox Transcend: The Brooklyn Mirage Season Closing event, this house mix sustained by classically distorted drum beats and whimsical, yet menacing, spacey synth sounds — is a spontaneous sound odyssey we’ve come to expect from @bebetta.

What’s in a name? In Bebetta’s case, mystery, motivation, and wordsmith magic. After being nudged by friends to play beyond their casual dinner parties, Anika Schnabel bypassed a career in design, began vinyl DJing at first, then birthed her producer and DJ persona, Bebetta in 2008. The name sounds like what it means — a constant reminder to be better, to push oneself, to dig deeper for meaning and creativity, all the while delivering a finished track where you can hear the spontaneity, whimsy, and fun of the process behind making it. It’s this admirable ambition and carefree, yet ever voracious curiosity that has been a driving and enduring force behind her very first track, her wildly popular scene-bending visual podcast ‘Bebetta in Bed,’ and her most recent releases.

Here in this Foxcast, Bebetta — a classically trained visual storyteller weaves together a sound story that starts elated and hopeful and gets deeper, darker, and more complex with progression. Laid over classic techno and house beats and synth grooves tropical you hear steel drum tribal house accents which somehow segue seamlessly into melodic tech-house tracks mixed to make you catch the beat and release your vibe throughout the entire recording.

Born in 1980, in the small town of Havelberg in Sachsen-Anhalt / Germany.
Defined by influences from the 80s New Wave sound and the dark synth-pop ( Depeche Mode ), he found his way quickly to electronic music. 
In 1997 T.A.G. began collecting the corresponding equipment for the task and with enthusiasm began spinning records. 
From 1997-1999 his sound took on the Detroit, Techno and Minimal style and thereafter the influence of Tresor Records’ artists such as Cristian Vogel and Neil Landstrumm helped him develop his current Brighton techno sound. After several years and successful gigs, in 2003 he played in Tresor New Faces night which gave him the incentive to try out for the Tresor Award. Ultimately he was selected among the top three by demonstrating his mixing and sound technique.
In 2005 T.A.G. was made an official member of the Headquarters team and in 2007 a resident DJ in Club Tresor Berlin and plays for people all over the World.
