Techgnosis Sessions 004 - Synapse [ITL]

Biomass is the psychedelic techno project of Melbourne based producer Finn Rhodes. The deep, brooding themes that define his progressive trance project, Ambler, are here explored in a slower, more spacious style. Biomass inhabits the grey areas between psychedelic and progressive, gruelling and groovy, daytime and nighttime. This mix showcases his debut EP, Grey Areas, along with a cohort of more recent and unreleased tunes including collaborations with Axon and Techgnosis label boss Ben Rama. Enjoy.

PT010: Evan Hatfield - Confused Ravi EP [Pinkturban]

Following his debut EP release on Pinkturban, Evan Hatfield returns to the label with his next offering, 'Confused Ravi EP.'

"Confused Ravi" is a luscious mix of house, techno, and Indian classical music. It features a seductive sitar performance by Evan himself, escorted by deep groovy rhythms and synthesizer syncopations.

The track is inspired by the moment world-renowned sitar player Ravi Shankar discovers that George Harrison of The Beatles is coming to India to study sitar with him. Considering how, at that time, the West generally paid little attention to Eastern culture, it came as a great surprise to Shankar.

Hitting it hard on the B-side is 'Time', a gritty dancefloor track featuring Evan's sitar and oud skills. Both tracks marry a balance of other-worldly soundscapes and tasteful composition that further defines this unique artist.
