Fabrice David a.k.a Ken Zo - Born in Mauritius

Fabrice created @ken-zo-official while studying in Melbourne Australia. After 3.5 years, of playing in Australia, he returned to Mauritius in 2014. Now based in Mauritius, Ken Zo is on the forefront of the Mauritian electronic scene. As a DJ he is known to be verstatile, catering for a wide spectrum of genres from deep house to full on psychedelic trance. He retains this versatility with his compositions and fuses the sub genres of techno & psychedelic to forge his own take of 'PsyTech'. In 2017, he was awarded the Backstage Award for Best DJ. 
Fabrice grew up surrounded by music. His mother was his first music teacher going over the basics of piano and singing. His parents enrolled him for violin classes at the age of 7 at the Conservatoire de Musique Francois Mitterrand where he also learnt music theory in french. At the age of 13 he moved on to the Conservatoire de Musique Frederic Chopin where he was trained in piano and music theory in English. Simultaneously during his teen years, Fabrice experimented with many genres - pop, rock, rnb - and played in many amateur bands and orchestras playing guitar, violin and keys.
He started DJing and producing in 2007 under the alias Mr.Snob playing commercial and progressive house as well as an occasional techno set here and there. The beginning was mostly birthday parties and school fairs with very rare club gigs. His career started picking up around 2011 just when he flew off to Melbourne Australia for his studies. He performed throughout Australia under his knew alias Ken Zo, finding his place within the niche psychedelic community playing fusion sets of techno and psy.
After 3,5 years in Australia playing all over, he returned to Mauritius in late 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Industry from RMIT, Melbourne. Now, Ken Zo is one of the leading DJs in Mauritius and pioneer of local underground culture.

VeroniKa & Oliver, founders of the Awsum Kulture movement (Montreal), have been active in the scene since 2014 and have performed at many festivals and huge events such as Piknic Electronik, Eclipse Festival, Future Forest, Timeless, Illusion, Totem, Portail, Good Vibes, Freakz Paradize and Wild Summer Festival as hybriid. 
A conceptualized project that puts forward the rich and varied world of techno, from hypnotic to psychedelic. Between the two, an infinite world of possibilities are abound, allowing each performance to produce a new, hybriid merging between musical universes. hybriid is born, to explore these multiple musical spheres and to provoke the process of conception, with the infinite range of tones.

For the 18th Episode of Hazmat Podcast, I'm pleased to feature my buddy from Berlin / Calcutta Dhruv Cosmik Khanna aka Cosmik Konnection !

Raised early in his life on a staple diet of assorted electronic music over the years Cosmik Konnection aka. Dhruv Cosmik Khanna has spent his life mostly in India, Australia and Germany.

Cosmik’s home base now is the techno capital of the world Berlin. He has been living in Germany since 14 years . Cosmik's exploration into techno began ever since Berlin became his second home and in a short span of time he's managed to enthrall audiences with meticulously carved mixes and a wonderful vibe. He has produced & released his brand of techno music under labels like Soupherb Records & Patent Skillz Records.

 He has opened for Claptone. Shared stages with Artists like Ash Roy, Breger, Calm Chor, Dj Lion, Folic State, SUDO, Markus Klee, Minitech Project, Kiki, Kaiser Souzai, Kotellet & Zadak, Kollektiv Ost, The Reason Y, Tim Taste, Umami & many more. Cosmik has also won the remix contest on Beatport for Dj Lion’s track Robosapiens released on Patent Skillz.

He has been working very closely with Soupherb Records for many years and in 2018 he compiled a smashing Various Artist release on Soupherb featuring artists from all over the globe like The Reason Y, Insekt Elektrika, Concha, Chaostrail, Ian Chris and Philipp Bardez(Dsompa) to name a few.

Cosmik continues to promote “intelligent dance music” in all ways possible. Focusing on techno with deep tribal and tech house elements and psychedelic techno, his style as a DJ has taken a more abstract and groovy funkier approach.

He has released tracks on Patent Skillz Records and Soupherb Records in the last two years and has some upcoming releases on other labels this year.

 

Cosmik is also currently working as a PR Manager for Soupherb Records based in Berlin,Germany.
