a few months ago, i began experimenting with vocal processing and was using Blossom as my practice grounds. 

i've always wanted to cover my favorite song of Nurture, but i literally cannot sing - i'm like super tone deaf

so it's unpolished, rough, and kinda ugly sounding ngl. i had to autotune/vocode THE SHIT out of my voice

this is technically the first unofficial-official "Derive" release - my alter ego | the complement and mirror to Integrate. same project, just more random releases. more details to come.

but anyway it's valentines day and i'm not very good with words. but thanks a lot, you're very kind

gura's final song is such a powerful one. genuinely, for the rest of the day i listened to this song non stop while dissociating walking aimlessly. there's such much pain and existentialism in the song, yet is such a power ballad at epic proportions that it gave me severe introspective existentialism. 

yet it reminded me of a song by my favorite artist - porter. i think porter's and gura's story are perfectly parallel to each other; both holding the soul crushing weight of being an artist/entertainer; being the face of their respective scenes. and unfold captures this song on porter's end; and ash again gura's. both of them coming to terms with their situation.

and gura isn't even my oshi; yet i'll always appreciate the sheer weight of the world she had to burden when all she wanted to do was be a silly little meme girl. she's an icon for dealing with black hole levels of stress having to deal with being her position. for that gura, i'll always adore you. you'll always be one to look up to. a true idol.



on the mixing: more than anything i wanted to bring this idea as fast as i could since it would not stop bothering me since ash again's release. unfortunately, without an official instrumental or even official release (as of me uploading this) there was no way of getting and clear or even artifact free acapella. technically both songs should work if unfold is pitched up 1 semi, but the artifacts and my acapella rip for gura were just awful. so i just decided to key shift both songs to sort of hide it. maybe if an official release comes out i can fix it?
