Human Lessons #061 - Dan Nicholls

A fierce introduction to the world of Oomycota, Confluence is the debut long form release presented by Naarm based bluhol (aka Loïcc).

Building upon bluhol’s debut liveset performed at Minutiae Festival, held on Wiradjuri Land in NSW during the new year cycle 23. Confluence represents a conscious shift in the Australian electronica soundscape, drawing deep inspiration from the vast bush land lining the eastern coast and paying homage to the unique nature and phenomenons that exist there.

bluhol, previously producing under Loïcc, is a sound artist based in Naarm, who’s roots are firmly planted in the Northern Tablelands of NSW. They intricately weave together the organic and synthetic, exploring the juxtaposition of nature’s fluidity with the structured rigidity of urban landscapes. With a keen focus on technical sound design and modular synthesis, bluhol crafts immersive auditory experiences that transport listeners into realms both melancholic and unsettling. Their compositions serve as a medium for contemplation, inviting audiences to reflect on the interplay between their past and future selves.

Our community in Prague has been organizing and spreading awareness in a highly Zionist Czech society for many months. Transmission for Lebanon is a collective effort to take a stance and support the cause of Lebanese sovereignty and anti-colonial struggle. 

All proceeds from this album will be donated to the Lebanese Red Cross, Beirut Synth Center (who are in direct contact with local shelters in Lebanon and providing resources to the displaced), and Secours Populaire.

Following the release of the EP Aurora in January, OTON's album New Forms Of Silence explores the full spectrum of the Belgian artist's talents, echoing the fluidity and flow of a live performance. Using an analogue setup that reflects his roots in multi-instrumentalism, improvisation and live production, OTON shifted to hardware-based tools to produce the LP, gradually veering from making music solely in the box. How to turn a pop song into something completely new? Lauv's hit makes it possible!

A pop song can be remixed in many different ways to turn it into a completely different style. An outstanding example is Lauv's song “I Like Me Better”, which offers a perfect base for creative experimentation. The steams were heard, the idea were born.
Inspiration was in the air and suddenly it was clear where the journey led. Synths turned up, beats perfected - and the remix was ready. A completely new sound, a fresh perspective on a song that had already moved us. Sometimes it only takes a small idea to create something big.
