It has been a whirlwind twelve months for David Sidley and Duncan Murray aka WHYT NOYZ. Since their SCI+TEC debut last February the UK based producers have enjoyed successful releases and remixes with Terminal M, Alleanza, KD Music and Form, and closed 2013 with a first full release on Richie Hawtin's Minus.

Formed in 2010 the duo quickly impressed with their driving techno productions that were matched with live drums and innovative vocal samples. Having initially caught the ear of Hawtin with their early demos, WHYT NOYZ were soon featuring on his Minus12 sub-label and their track 'Volcano' was included on his 'New Horizons' compilation. 

Dubfire was also a fan and invited the duo to produce an EP for SCI+TEC. They announced their arrival to the family with the rampant 'Homewurk' EP. Throughly tried and tested by the label boss, both tracks are now certified SCI+TEC hits and ready for release. 

Today WHYT NOYZ return with the 'They' EP, a four track selection that rolls out of the blocks with the mean stomping sound of the title track. The tempo is pushed on Tribe with its pulsing bassline, fluid FX and bell chimes before the boys match hip-hop vocal spikes, a fat, groovy bottom end and tense breaks on In 95'. WHYT NOYZ drop more urban funk on the final cut as their cascading keys and throbbing bass work to perfection to close the ep in true party style.

The original is by two very young and talented Medellin-based producers who I'd had my eye on for years. We later connected and they started to send me quite a lot of demos and this one stood out the most. It was just one of those tracks that harked back to the old Tenaglia marathon sets that I'd loved so much, especially the stream-of-consciousness pitched down spoken vox. And I loved the tense, hi-pitched string in the background and the moody deep stabs. I wasn't even sure that I'd sign it as my release schedule was already quite full but every time I'd play it out I'd think about doing a remix as I felt that I could do some sort of driving, epic, alternate version. As I recall it was one of those remixes that was FUN to work on because the original parts were so great. I'm quite happy with the mix I did, especially the long, drawn out intro. And I think that it helped the boys gain some more exposure.

Pedro Santiago - Corazones ( Original mix ) - Free 192 k d/l!

The label boss The Advent teams up with Spiriakos and they deliver a great release for Kombination Research. The original mix of 'Point Of No Return' is a smooth techno production that builds early on with some nice beats and some subtle effects. Filterheadz deliver their remix on the flip and maintain some of the quirky vibe in the drum work.

<p>The label bosses The Advent and Industrialyzer team up with Hugo Paixao and they are releasing an excellent EP on Codeworks. Kicking off this EP is the title track ‘Mutant’ which creates a big chunky affair full of dark beats with smooth percussion on the foreground. A very nice and intense production with smooth string getting along. ‘Twisted’ follows, featuring stabbing and rolling deep basslines mixed up with nice and melodic riffs. Can be better than that? Three excellent producers getting along and they produce two techno anthems for Codeworks. Enjoy</p>

Jason Fernandes makes his debut EP on Codeworks and looking to continue his techno trend. First up is 'Looking For Something' which is simply massive. The track builds superbly early on with some great drums, followed by a smooth bassline. Stabbing synths come into, to complete this techno anthem. Completing this EP is 'Knowing Inside' featuring a very seductive melody as well with nasty beats all around in order to create an absolute massive track for the summer. A very big release here from Codeworks and a fantastic set of productions from Jason Fernandes, be sure to seek this one out.

After a rousing reminder of why he is still on top form, with Figure 45’s - ‘Lifesigns’, Johannes Heil now teams up with Figure label creator Len Faki in two exciting new tracks. ‘Volume 1’ readies the two Techno mainstays’ skills at creating tense, dramatic and highly effective moments for the club.

This is the first of 2 volumes to be released from the pair’s studio sessions exploring the whole spectrum of their influences. In the first installment they present 2 distinctly modern distillations of Techno today!


The stomping, tripping ‘Octopuss’ represents the modern shared-vision of two of Techno’s most accomplished producers. From a bouncing start, razor sharp hats and carefully tuned ambience surrounds the cheeky, party-time vibe. As the circling synth theme emerges the track builds towards its haunting, unstoppable breakdown.

Taking things into a more introspective zone, the freaking, sound-design depths of ‘Karter Bachnabel’ jack into play. Skipping across the stereo field, filtering and gyratng, the tactile killer also focuses its energies towards a riotous break in trademark Faki/Heil style! Get Karter!
