Unearthing new international techno talent is an art that SCI+TEC boss Dubfire seems to be mastering with ease. From the UK to the warmer climes of the Caribbean, the label head has already introduced us to a number of rising stars. 
The next to join the family is Russian youngster Ricky Ebner. A surprise call from Dubfire, who'd received a copy of his track Trantola, lead to an exciting and groundbreaking moment for the man from the Serov State. Invited to submit more tracks to the label, it wasn't long before Ricky had confirmed and signed his debut SCI+TEC release. 
The Trantola ep perfectly showcases Ebner's taste for dark and reflective grooves. The title track comes correct with its industrial wall of sound before we're treated to the muscular strut of My Choice. The release is completed with the creepy vocal-funk of Scarolla.

TEC099 - 1 - RICKY EBNER - TRANTOLA

Following on from the summer’s mischievous double header, ‘Octopuss / Karter Bachnabel’ (Figure 47), the two techno institutions that are Len Faki and Johannes Heil are back. If ‘Volume I’ reflected an upbeat, festival-friendly summer vibe, then ‘Volume II’ welcomes us indoors to the winter season, with two darker, straighter and more paranoid weapons. 


Both ‘Dirty’ and ‘Maniac’ continue the strong blueprint of the first EP, with the producer’s trademark rolling bass and intense arrangements making them perfectly-honed for the big floors.

‘Dirty’ takes an old school, intense party-techno vibe with a grinding organ hook leading us into the heart of the beast. Taking the best of 90s techno’s slamming drums -crisp claps and searing hi-hats - combined with the two producer’s top class production, its quite a handful.

No less effective is ‘Maniac’, a more introspective workout that fuses a pumping, warehouse vibe with submerged, filtering synth play. At once psychedelic, yet funky and timeless, it snakes and stalks its way through 7 minutes of classy reductionism. Simply masterful techno from two of it’s key contributors.

Mattia Saviolo and Eugenio Zampieri's explosion onto the scene has been fuelled by their excellent productions. Their versatility in the studio sees the duo releasing a range of styles and sounds, all firmly aimed at the dancefloor. Early releases for Polar Noise, Inmotion and Rawthentic brought attention before SCI+TEC boss Dubfire invited the guys to produce an ep for the label. The Ronan Point EP dropped at the beginning of 2012 to much acclaim and was followed later that year by the heavily-supported District Zero release. Now Macromism return to SCI+TEC with their Crazy EP.

The three tracks selection opens with the b-boy stomps of the title track before we're taken into the decomposing deepness of Rot. Deadly Intent rounds out the ep with its rasping snares and thumping drums.

My version of Green Velvet & Gary Beck's "Stronger". Released on Green Velvet's labels Cajual / Relief on 17th March 2014 as part of their special compilation.

Opening with the Vangelis inspired Present Voyage then weaving a path through gritty throbbing bass, exemplified by Arrival and on to minimized funk of Disco Diva and Need House, Sonic Intervention progresses naturally on through the swirling tension of Get Up and crescendos with the combination of floor-burner NZT and the old-school Electro stomping Electric Pandemic; featuring the vocals of Detroit Grand Pubas Paris Du Black Fu. When quizzed on his motivations behind his latest studio album, The Advent stated I wanted to do something quite personal for this first album and delve a little bit into the past to get inspiration from my influences to make an album that reflected all the musical genres I have been inspired by over the years electro, electronica, tech house - not just the techno tracks. Future music from a past master, made for the here and now.
