MaxNRG – TrapCheck EP


You like drums and you like bass. Which is why you like drum and bass, and, especially, why you like Technique Recordings. Now, Technique's artist MaxNRG has rearranged those drums and basses to show you how junglists do trap. And just in case you need to be convinced that this divergence from the high tempos is justified, this four-track EP release is absolutely free of charge.

Max sets it off with “A TrapCheck”, building a crescendo of gangsta horns and an even more gangsta electro high-end to reference the roots of this sound. Then we drop into sub-heavy territory with a beat that'll 808 your face off.

Then we go darker. “Champ” delivers twisted synth-work and road-hardened vibes that combine with a 2013 take on bass and percussion to take the rave down deep.

“Dis Way We Gotta Do It” perfectly exemplifies what trap's all about. Classic rave stabs combine with the gun-mechanism samples and drums to make your head nod.

Then finally, “Welcome (Sexy Bitch)” comes out of left-field on an alternative tip. Dropping the whip-bouncing attitude of the previous tracks, it provides a bouncy triple-time beat to show you the full range of MaxNRG's trap-production repertoire.

So, if you've been wondering how trap would sound if a full-on D&B master had a go at it, here's the answer. And that answer is every bit as rave-damaging as you'd hope. So, expect these tracks in bass-conscious sets worldwide.
