Sameule Scelfo makes his Hottrax debut this April with ‘Funky Like F’. 

Following his 2021 debut on Jamie Jones’ Hot Creations with ‘My Father in Ibiza 1988’, which picked up a myriad of supporters, including Marco Carola, Michael Bibi, Davide Squillace and Andrea Oliva, Italian DJand producer Samuele Scelfo is back with more heat. This time, the Morositas club resident’s peak-time blends land on sister label Hottrax for the first time with ‘Funky Like F’. 

I’m honoured to release again on Jamie's label! This EP was born to break the dance floor, two energetic tracks for the peak time. Both tracks were born after the first lockdown, during the reopening of clubs in Italy.I was inspired by the need for the typical club atmosphere that I missed during the pandemic. - Samuele Scelfo 

Rattling drums and hissing snares let loose in the percussive ‘Funky Like F’ as elastic basslines are compressed in true Hottrax style, before rumbling low-ends, stuttering vocals and ravey stabs keep the energy high in the closing track ‘Gravity Falls’.

Dutch talent Secnd returns to NoZzo Music for a full label debut with his ‘Pop Up Shot’ EP.

Following several impressive showings on previous NoZzo Music releases, Netherlands-based DJ/Producer Secnd is back on Tomi & Kesh’s increasingly popular label outfit with his first solo EP, enlisting Miami’s Slugg on remix duties for the b-side, ‘Get Groovy’. 

Kicking things off with the title cut, ‘Pop Up Shot’ comes in hot with an onslaught of percussive-heavy tech flavours. Building around weighty rolling drums and a huge sub-bass melody, its bright textures, vocal shots and subtle melodies pave the way for an ebb and flow of upbeat terrace vibes from start to finish.

‘Get Groovy’ comes next, serving a slightly stripped-back persona with an emphasis on (you guessed it) groove. Swaying rhythms bounce over the top of resonant harmonies and playful vox chops to carve out a silky underground vibe-builder. 

Slugg follows up with his spin on ‘Get Groovy’, turning in a jazzier, chunkier rendition of the original, flooded with endless layers of nonchalant percussive drive. Orbiting a centrepiece saxophone sample, it’s a show of sophisticated class from the word go.

‘Tell You’ closes the release with another stripped-back dancefloor-pleaser. Another combo of crisp drums and rippling percussive playfulness combines with a rolling bassline and tonal injections throughout to deliver an endlessly danceable mood-setter. 

Secnd’s ‘Pop Up Shot’ EP is available from 21st April 2023 via NoZzo Music.

Atmospheric synth layers and pulsating basslines intertwine with the ethereal vocals, creating a deep emotional tension that builds steadily before releasing into euphoric drops. Balancing dark, cinematic energy with club-ready rhythm, this rework brings a fresh yet nostalgic feel, perfect for peak-time or late-night sets.
