Madrid native Dennis Cruz makes his Solid Grooves Records debut with three rumbling cuts including a remix from fellow countryman Wade.

Since his debut in 2010, Cruz has become a staple in Beatport’s charts, not to mention the sets of artists such as Marco Carola, Joseph Capriati, Nicole Moudaber, Yousef and Roger Sanchez. Throughout this time the likely producer has dropped releases on Saved, Deeperfect, Stereo Productions and Kinetika, not to mention his very own imprint Lemon-Aid Music. He now arrives on PAWSA & Michael Bibi’s Solid Grooves Records, joining the likes of Wade, Kuo Climax and Rockwell & Landers for an exciting second year for the label.

Initiating with the sound of a roaring crowd, ‘See Line’ was produced with the dancefloor in mind using thudding kicks, arcane vocal samples and an energetic rhythm. ‘Heads or Cruz’ is a more low-slung number with a focus on a killer groove, whilst ‘Bienvenido’ engages in a medley of percussive elements geared for peaktime antics. Tying the package together, Wade remixes ‘See Line’ to give it his signature twist whilst ensuring the heady vocals reiterate throughout.

Solid Grooves has built a strong following of loyal fans over the years. Starting out as an event series, the London based brand has since achieved global success including a prevalent Ibiza residency last year. Launching as a label in 2015, it wasn’t long before Solid Grooves Records topped Beatport’s overall charts with Wade’s remix of Dennis Cruz ‘See Line’ and cemented its reputation as an infallible imprint, releasing music from names such as Kuo Climax, ONNO, David Pher and Brett Gould.

Dennis Cruz leads the way with ‘Fake’, a vocal focused track with throbbing bass, chopped up samples and infectious percussive components before Franz Costa’s ‘Kate’ blends a medley of intricate rhythmic elements for a trippy low-slung production.

The label co-founders are up next, with Michael Bibi unleashing a roaring low-end in ‘Devil’s Candy’ whilst a spoken word sample operates through, making way for PAWSA’s ‘Taking Over’ – an atmospheric house track geared for powerful subs featuring dub inspired stabs and sharp hats. Reelow then concludes the package, demonstrating his signature style with a cacophony of percussion and mesmerizing effects.

Music On favourites Neverdogs drop their first EP of 2018 in late February as they touch down on Hector Couto’s Roush, accompanied by a remix from label boss Couto himself. London based duo Marco De Gregorio and Tommy Paone, aka Neverdogs, have established themselves as key names throughout Europe since meeting back in 2000. Residents at Marco Carola’s renowned Music On night, and firm fixtures at the brands ‘It’s All About The Music’ events in London, the duo have amassed an impressive resume with releases on the likes of Deeperfect, Moan and Decay, and collaborations with Sebastian Ledher and more. Following their ‘So Different’ EP in 2016, here we see them return to Roush alongside Jamaican born vocalist Tmar to deliver another club focused package, with yet another stellar remix from Hector Couto via his own imprint. Title cut ‘I Believe That’ kicks things off and sees the duo lay down Tmar’s infectious vocals over a familiar, signature blend of skipping drum patterns and rich sub tones to produce a cut that’s guaranteed to be a go-to terrace selection on the White Isle all season long, before ‘Vintage’ goes back to basics as metallic tones and spiraling sonics combine to unveil a murky and eerie production perfectly suited to darker basements.
Closing the EP, label head Hector Couto puts his own spin on ‘Vintage’ with his Dubnation remix, merging tough kicks amongst a stripped back arrangement to reveal a smooth yet dynamic cut that perfectly demonstrates the Spaniards undeniable talent within the studio.
