Juno Review: Photoluminescent faders flash and bioelectric knobs bulge, as Body Clinic aka London-based Rory Gilmore's 'The Righteous', takes us on a journey through progressive, trance-wrought, cyborg flesh. Neptune Discs are the forbidden planetary research station we set foot out from: from there, it's an adventure into the unknown, as 'The Righteous Observe' and 'Good Things Will Come' provide swirling vocal darkness and core sonobionics, while 'Bongo Logo' and 'My Mate Dave' get bouncier and sillier yet no less 'lectric.

Andre Crom's OFF Recordings hosts the debut appearance from KNTRL on the imprint this month with two originals that delve the label into an electronica-centered soundscape. Rich textures and lush sonic touches make for an engrossing listening experience. Luca Agnelli, known for noted releases on the likes of Soma Records, Drumcode and his very own Etruria Beat imprint, completes the package, delivering a peaktime smash in his traditional hard hitting techno style. He's bring a club-oriented edge to the EP with a diamond cut.

Premiere: KNTRL - Stay (Luca Agnelli Remix) [OFF Recordings]

Hailing from Spain, we are pleased to welcome Ramiro Lopez to take the reigns for our next release. The in-form producer has already released music on the likes of Bedrock, Intec, Suara and Diymanic in a relatively short space of time and garnered major support from Adam Beyer, Carl Cox and Monika Kruse. Coming out on 15th May, his ‘Pretending’ release comprises of 4 tracks that have been a mainstay of Adam Beyer’s sets during the latter part of 2016 and now full force in to 2017. 

The release opens with ‘September’; Atmospheric to its very core, the crunching drums and low end rumbles make this one a sure fire weapon of choice. Next we jump into ‘Loving You’ with a haunting vocal that compliments the stripped back yet refined approach of this track. ‘Come Closer’ featuring Juliet Fox is a dark, rumbling number that screams building percussion that lends itself to become a peak time choice, whether it’s a club or festival. The release closes with ‘Pretending feat. KnowKontrol’; An 8-minute piece of work that is destined for unadulterated dancefloor destruction, whilst maintaining that melodic element that Ramiro Lopez is fast making his signature style.

Mark Reeve makes his welcome return to the Drumcode fold with a powerful three-tracker ‘Far Away’.

In recent years Mark Reeve has become a pivotal member of the Drumcode crew. His 2015 EP ‘Run Back’ was a standout, before he backed it up strongly with ‘Nine of You’, his collaboration with Adam Beyer that featured on A-Sides Vol.5, ensuring his place in the hearts of DC fans. As further evidence of his importance to the collective, Beyer has selected him to suit up for the inaugural Drumcode Festival happening this August in association with Awakenings. 

Harking back to formative times in the ‘90s when he’d frequent Sven Väth’s legendary Omen in Frankfurt, the title track to Reeve’s ‘Far Away’ is a timeless beauty, driven by a celestial melody line and emotive bass notes that lobs it into the kind of laser-kissed territory that would make even the most jaded of raves throw their arms skyward. ‘Fragile’ follows, a classy bass-driven cut that makes its mark with deep subterranean stabs and punchy kicks. Rounding out the EP is ‘Redemption’ a tougher, heads-down techno workout imbued with plenty of energy thanks to a crafty bass melody that runs throughout.

After bursting onto the scene in late 2017, Hyperloop makes his Drumcode debut with Green Velvet in toe. 

Followers of Truesoul will be clued up on the quality one can expect from Hyperloop. Last October he marked the label’s 100th with ‘In The Loop’, a superb three-tracker that signalled his arrival on the scene and highlighted a stunning year for the label. As 2018 picks up pace, Hyperloop returns with a tougher follow up for Drumcode. 

His ‘Mentalizm’ EP is a classy example of his versatility, a trio of original works, accompanied by two DJ tools. Beginning on a menacing tip, ‘In Your Mind (Reflections)’ is a low-end brew of industrial stabs, eerie melodies and subterranean vocals. ‘S-Sound’ is his collaboration with Chicago legend Green Velvet and is a percussive masterstroke of loops and drum riffs which drive the eight-minute track with all the puffing ferocity of a steam train. ‘Spring on the Battlefield’ is the perfect contrasting accompaniment, as a warm rush of strings covers a bed of intricate analogue effects and stomping kicks.
