Ryan Denis, Techno Brunch co-founder/resident DJ and cheese enthusiasts, was born and raised in the state of Michigan and claims that his love for music (loud music) is a direct result of his father’s own obsession for music. Ryan's musical style tends to favor dark progressive melodies and heavy hitting techno beats, both of which he often incorporates in his sets.

About Michi:
Michi was raised by wolves, and only after she was discovered by scientists, found an unconditional love for synthesizers and became a DJ. With no known point of origin (probably somewhere with wolves), Michi's nomadic lifestyle introduced her to a wide variety of cultures that the world has to offer the very moment she stepped out of her mother’s womb. However, during her formative years as an artist, she found herself in Belgium and Germany, dancing the night away in abandoned train stations and underground techno clubs; thus marking the beginning of her journey into house and techno music. Michi holds a degree in Audio Engineering from UCSD and when she’s not conjuring magic on the decks she’s working as a sound technician for live musical performances.

Sink your ears into the latest release from Steyoyoke Black's eclectic collection of soul-searching electronic numbers: a four-piece EP from the masterful Brazilian electronic duo, Binaryh. Fittingly titled ‘Positive Negative’, the EP ranges from emotional moments of sensitivity and realness to raw glimpses of energy and drive. What results is the perfect balance of calm and chaos, love and rage, positive and negative.

The first track ‘One Digit’ begins with slow and calculated rhythmic tension, which persists over a slightly dissonant melody and builds to an epic crescendo. The heat and intensity of this song is balanced in track two with an extended and slightly more airy introduction, which converts gradually into the insistent release of angst and disruption.

Track three, ‘Consilium’, rises gracefully from the ashes of the previous numbers, providing a fresh perspective, a redeeming moment of clarity and curiosity infused with a desire for more. The extended cut lingers luxuriously on the transition from hard to soft, allowing the listener to get lost in this inviting dream world before being propelled forward into the unknown.

The impact of the EP as a whole is an emotional journey inward through the human psyche. A battle of the self, encapsulating all the conflicting aspects of emotion and struggle, translated into an intuitive and unvarnished piece of art.

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and got to enjoy your family and friends to the fullest this weekend. @DJPZB here jumping back in the mix here for LAMP one more time before the end of the year. It has been another incredible year of mixes with a host of amazing guest artists and contributors, and we still have a couple more surprises for you before the year is over. For the mix this week, I stayed exclusively within music that I have either received or picked up on my own from some of my favorite artists and labels this past month. I wanted to take you all on a pretty fantastic adventure with this mix so it is a little longer than usual. This past weekend I went and spent some time on a ranch with some pretty fantastic people in the Sierra Nevada foothills and had my equipment with me. I spent most of a day playing around in the outside on the decks enjoying some wonderful sunshine, what looked like an entire panorama of California and some extremely fresh air.
