Fabio Florido recruits an all-star cast of remixers for the latest release on Runa.

Based in Berlin, Fabio Florido is a DJ/producer who has previously released on the likes of Richie Hawtin’s Plus 8 and runs his own Runa imprint. Returning to his own label this July, Florido invites Luigi Tozzi, Exos,Amotik, Danny Wabbit, Edgar de Ramon, Insolate, Arthur Robert and Marsch to remix records from his impressive back catalogue on a brand new compilation, yielding thrilling results.

“It's been a little over two and a half years since the launch of my label, Runa. Each release carried a story, a message, or an intention that I wanted to share with those who, like me, were "confined" at home. These narratives were inspired by the mood of the EP, its title, or events happening while I was crafting it.

We are all shaped by experiences accumulated over the past years, which we now apply to our new lives, clubs, and music. So, I invited eight of my favourite artists to remix or reinterpret eight of my tracks, all composed during the pandemic. I couldn't be happier with the outcome. zeroalpha aka Rabid. Digital artist, producer and DJ, proudly representing Aotearoa-New Zealand. Host of GCA Radio (Jungle/DnB), The Other Side of Zero (Live Dark Ambient Music/Visuals) and Cold Harbour Techno Sessions on twitch. zeroalpha began mixing jungle/dnb in 2003, always focused on the darker, breaks heavy side of the genre. fast forward 20 odd years zero is now combining his passion for the underground sound with his love of digital art. Creating with software such as Touchdesigner and any other programs he can get his hands on to create mind bending abstract works. He can also be found performing live dark ambient sets with a hybrid workflow using both Eurorack and DAW's. This alongside live visuals made in Touchdesigner makes for a deep sonic and visual journey for anyone in attendance.

While somewhat late to bringing techno into his DJ sets, zero always found himself on the techno stage dance floor at 5am at multi-genre raves. Infected by the pounding groove and twisted soundscapes, he now plays regular techno sets on twitch. Staying true to his roots, he aims to take listeners on a journey exploring both the dark and heavy alongside the deep psychedelic sides of techno.

Soma welcome LA based Alexander Kulikov for a special release on the label and he brings the deep and dubbed out ‘October Dreams Pt.1’. The self professed ‘Dub Techno enthusiast’ has been involved in various musical activities in his time but has began to focus more on the roots of his chosen sound throughout the last few years - bringing the traditional sound of Detroit & Berlin into his productions.

This release (part 1 of 2) sees him delving into deep sonic experiments with ethereal soundscapes and atmospheres set to a backdrop of psycho-acoustic noise and static with the faintest of percussive elements helping to keep the rhythm. The release also features a special remix from one of Detroit’s best kept secrets as DeepLabs boss, Luke Hess turns in a perfectly crafted, Detroit inspired version of Stream.
