Demonic techno straight from the fiery depths, Body To Body founder Sina XX serves up four unholy cuts of industrial devastation that has Satan himself grinning horn to horn as he soundtracks his subterranean hellscape on Techno Is The Devil’s Music.

Following outings on Rinse France and performances in Rex Club, Mess Paris and many of Paris’ iconic heavy sound institutions, Sina XX is fast becoming one of most exciting names of the techno circuit. As the founding member of Subtyl he has become synonymous with the rave renaissance currency sweeping its way through the French capital through its nocturnal, heavy-hitting aesthetic.

‘Don’t Stop’ is a shining example of this - punishing, psychedelic techno that does exactly what it says on the tin. ‘Blame Us For This Rave’ extends the frantic energy into a robotic cut of unrelenting kicks and alarming stabs that create a sense of urgency and release.

‘Feed Your Fetish’ sways towards the cinematic; a little more melodic than its predecessors, but nonetheless energetic. Acid-trance atmospherics craft an aura of largeness - a defining soundscape where its residents are free to be as weird as they want - before ‘OK Boomer’ see us out with an absolute bouncer that is more concerned with the fun that can be created through jumping up and down on the spot than the stereotypical seriousness that techno can be known for.

As a founding member of the KUNQ collective alongside long-time collaborator Shyboi, FALSE WITNESS has been steadily building a reputation as one of techno’s most forward-thinking artists, carving out a raw distinctive sound and turning in performances with unwavering, limitless energy. Now the Brooklyn born, Berlin based artist prepares their release on TITM, with a turbulent stream of protest energy, featuring a remix from multifaceted artist and pace setter within contemporary techno - VTSS.

Title track ‘Let Your X Go’ wastes no time in getting to know its audience. Here, False Witness explores their knack for cutting-edge sounds and no prisoner attitudes; while the tracks echoing vocal loops create a tunnel vision at dizzying speed. On the flip comes a remix from one of the most in demand producers in electronic music, London based DJ and producer VTSS. Following on from her experimental ‘Projections’ EP released on Ninja Tunes’ sister label ‘Technicolour’, VTSS returns to Berlin’s dancefloors with a cut of hedonistic, speaker-shattering energy. ‘The Elevator Game’ causes even further demolition, the sounds of heavy machinery and industrial grunge adding to False Witness’ sprawling sonic palette.

The B side opens its doors with ‘Next Location’ featuring Bootee; it’s pounding kick drums and distorted transmissions worming their way through the metallic pipes buried beneath the tracks exterior. The track’s cathartic nature breathes fresh life into an already furious EP and feels like an important chapter in False Witness’ developing story. Bringing the EP to a close is an exclusive digi only dub of title track ‘Let Your X Go’.

TITDM05 // FALSE WITNESS - Let Your X Go

Midwest techno titan DJ Speedsick debuts on TITDM with five monstrous cuts, permeating with grunge flavored grooves and hypnotic rhythms - including a bonus digi track on ‘Midwest Death Trance EP’.

Opener ‘Spun 21’ sets the tone for the record, wasting no time in getting started. The track's rolling basslines stretch out underneath deep, weighty percussion, in a pumping club track with both warm and driving qualities. The US based artist continues his quest of making the most relentless and uncompromising techno in ‘Low Places’ before ‘Tital Therapy’ enters the frame with its louring kick drums, interwoven amongst a backdrop of industrial, dystopian unrest.

B side opener ‘Exact Change’ is minimal in its approach, but no less effective; proving that sometimes all we need is a hammering kick drum, killer rides and understated bass notes to make people lose their minds. The record comes to a close with the heads down grooves of ‘Your Turn To Fall’ a seductive piece, teasing and taunting; before the digi only ‘Glad To Get Away’ keeps bodies moving as the club shuts and the after party begins.

Samantha Togni makes her TITDM debut with five uncompromising cuts, exploring the darkest corners of techno and channeling her artistic expression in a flurry of controlled yet innovative directions. This compulsion to work without boundaries isn’t new to Samantha, having always leaned toward a ‘do it your own way’ attitude, leading to Samantha founding Boudica in 2017; a collective aiming to give visibility to women and non binary artists through their events, conference, radio show and podcast. 
 
‘Trust The Heat’ rattles through the speakers with its bone twitching bass, spilling out from its kickdrums and marching forward at an unnerving pace. The accompanying grooves give way to primal movements and an added layer of welcomed spice. There’s no sing-songy samples here, just a vocal phrase with the energy of a megaphone edging through a busy club; guiding dancers to keep moving. ‘No Pressure to Fit In’ follows up with its spiraling basslines opening and closing, providing the movement against a backdrop of percussive power. Togni brings back the vocal snippets. this time to greater hypnotic effect. 
 
‘Sensible Social Lies’ sounds like the type of techno you’d expect to hear on a planet from Dune; shapeshifting its way through sand with a heavy onslaught of newly discovered sounds. ‘Cockroaches’ scales back, remaining functional and still packing a serious punch, before the record comes to a pupil dilating close with ‘In Vivo’ a melodic, left-leaning piece honoring what makes techno so great, while remaining fiercely contemporary and unique to the artist who created it. 
 
Digi buyers are treated to the bonus track ‘From Dusk Till Dawn.’ This one is for the Monday morning dancers.

Sensible Social Lies

TITDM07 // Samantha Togni - Sensible Social Lies

A relatively new name in the world of hard edged techno, Irish DJ & producer Sjush made his presence felt with a string of self-released EPs and an appearance on SPEED’S free download series in 21’. The young up and comers' taste for raw, bewitching techno combined with a penchant for rave has left listeners in hypnotic euphoria, making him one to watch and gaining support from Manni Dee, Yasmin Gardezi, Pelin Vedis, Riot Code & more. Now on his first vinyl release, Sjush produces four relentless and brooding cuts of late-night techno on Danger Dance. 

‘Aura’ sets pace with an array of pounding kickdrums and its commanding sensibility; inducing primal states through carefully selected grooves and propelling synths. ‘Burner’ then enters the fray with bone crushing percussion, also underlining Sjush’s solid grasp of mixing both aggressive techno with a 90s sheen. ‘Cataclysm’ feels more detached and spacy, still engrossed in powerful low end and foreboding pads, before the EP comes to a cinematic close with ‘Grain Feeder’. Marching kickdrums meet with equally relentless leads, while percussion that could easily replicate the noises from predator form to create a mind-expanding, sensory experience best heard under the cover of darkness.
