Bobby Shann makes his Hottrax debut this summer with ‘Turn It Up’. 

Known for his hip-hop influenced house material, Bobby Shann’s productions have been supported by heavy-hitters such as Joseph Capriati, Loco Dice and Michael Bibi. Now, Shann makes a sizzling first outing on Jamie Jones’ Hottrax label with his new release ‘Turn It Up’. 

Bouncy lead track ‘Turn It Up’ infuses Middle Eastern inspired harmonies with timely bleeps and claps, before the punchy ‘Hard Feelings’ harnesses driving basslines, snaking percussion and the enticing vocals of Nicole Dash Jones in this sultry cut.

Everything had been done a certain way until the new boss arrived. The office was a well-oiled machine, people knew their roles and responsibilities, had their daily routines nailed down to a tee, but this person was now here to shake things up. As the old saying goes, if it's not broke don't fix it but there was a new order and everyone had to respect it. They were ready to turn everything on its head, whether people liked it or not...

Madrid-based producer Fernanda Arrau has called on another group of artists to contribute to the third compilation on her United Colors of Rhythm label. She's continuing her commitment to spotlight artists from different countries, this time bringing on board producers from Chile, Spain and Mexico - namely Alejandro Paz, Moo Moonster and Parissior, Nico Castro, Pvlomo and Kresy. The collection of club-ready tracks connects the dots between electro, house, wave and indie dance, whilst connecting like-minded musicians who hail from all over the world.

Jamie Jones has always been a forward-thinking A&R, as he proves with this series, which shines a light on the best talent currently out there, often with a focus on the darker side of the dance floor.

Pacha Ibiza resident and increasingly vital house artist Calvin Clarke kicks off with the punchy 'Catch A Vibe.' It's a seductive late-night house sound with whirring synths and a detached vocal that bleeds in and out over crisp kick drums and razor-sharp percussion. Young Chilean star Lucas Moss is an exciting new name with releases on labels like Solid Grooves Raw, Roush Label and Drumma Records. His brilliant 'Disko Papi' is a hooky cut with woodpecker-like bass stabs and sleazy vocals. The drums are raw and kinetic
for maximum dance floor impact.

Last of all is London's Niteplan, an artist with an all-encompassing underground background and a discerning ear for tidy grooves. His '6 In The AM' is a gritty after-hours cut with paranoid vocals panning
about the mix and slapping hits. It has an alluring atmosphere that is perfect for those freakier moments.

This is another vital selection of innovative house sounds from Hottrax.

The talented Chilean DJ and producer made her debut on the label with "Calypso" in 'Muy Divas Vol 1', and now she immerses us in a world of shimmering sounds and hypnotic rhythms. The EP, consisting of three cuts—two of them original versions and a masterful edit by Bawrut.

The EP kicks off with "Sexy Dance," a track that's fresh, fun, and simultaneously seductive. With a playful bassline, echoing vocals, an enjoyable cowbell, and a solid drumbeat, this 6-and-a-half-minute song leads listeners into a state of hypnotic dancing.

Moving on, we encounter "Simple," a track that dazzles with its depth and sparkle. The combination of the drums and the enveloping bass keeps your feet grounded, while the pure pads guide listeners on a delicate and enchanting journey.

The perfect conclusion to the EP comes from the hands of the renowned producer Bawrut, who delivers an enigmatic edit of "Jenny Lind." Bastian Bux strides into 2024 with an impressive three-tracker on Jamie Jones’ Hottrax. 

Bastian Bux was hugely busy in 2023 with standout cuts on his own Neverendz label, having already impressed on Eats Everything's Edible, elrow Music and Cuartero's Sanity. He hails from Barcelona and has shown himself to be endlessly creative in the studio - each new tune shows an evolution in his sound, whether vocal, deep, tech or beyond. Now, almost a decade into his career, he has played everywhere from Tomorrowland to Encore Beach Club in Las Vegas, and he now opens the year with a superb three-track EP on Hottrax. 

The punchy 'Dunns' kicks off with tight, clipped tech house drums and chopped-up vocal stabs that eventually turn into streetwise bars drenched in attitude. 'Dat Beat' is just as fresh and sure to get crowds in a swat with its hardcore house grooves and twisted synths spraying about the mix. Throw in more well-treated vocal fragments and a fat bassline, and you have real club dynamite. Completing this essential hat trick is 'Howyalldoin', a more playful cut with a sun-kissed vibe thanks to its soulful male vocals and funky bass riffs.
