TM8 Q: How do you go about putting a mix together?
A: "I start creating my sets with an attitude, often visualised in similar colors and translated to feelings, that I want to explore based on the music Ive recently found. This attitude can be found in tracks that differ in their genre, but share similarities in texture and design.  A lot of tracks have elements from multiple genres, where the track can seem like minimal techno because of its arrangement, but the kick is mixed in a way that resembles tribe or gabber. I always struggle with choosing a genre for a set, but I find that I can still create a continuous story by taking an element from the current track and gluing it together with the next song through a similar element in the upcoming song. But in the end the most important way for me to work is intuitively, always being emotionally present and aware if the upcoming track is leading away or towards the core attitude of the set."

Oslo-based DJ and producer IRA delivers a psychedelic, warped-out mix brimming with other-worldly melodies, minimalistic harmonics and industrial soundscapes. Having started out a few years ago in the Oslo rave scene via Enter Tribe, she has since co-founded the club concept Sirena alongside artists Vilde Wahl and Samuel Feste. As a talented producer, IRA has released her dark and dreamy productions on labels like MUSA, Global Pace and In Orbit. We're so excited to add her to our own label later this year.
