Øperat, an experimental industrial project born by the Italian duo in 2013. Always passionate about electronic music, they approached the world of live and production right away. Suggesting a completely modular set up. Their sound is characterized by dark environments with dynamic bass lines and rhythms, aggressive and sharp sounds. After several years spent in a studio they had the opportunity to play live shows at one of the main clubs in the area"Hyper" (VI). In which they had several opportunities to perform with international artists. Last year they recorded some DJ sets for Sehnsucht Kollektiv, The Slave, Untreated, Vumantra, M.powerhouse and Brutal Forms.In February 2019 they have their first release in a various artist on Kloster recordings and December 2020 Templer (Area Z). 

Øperat is a strong and solid project in continuous evolution created by two old childhood friends.

28th Episode of Cartel Podcast with Hypnoskull

June 2022 marked the exact 30th anniversary of German/Belgian Patrick Stevens (°1973) project hypnoskull which was started in 1992, rooted in the aftermath of the first wave of industrial music but as well in the humid warehouses of the early techno scene of the nineties and the underground stages of harsh noise. One of the pioneers to combine industrial music with techno resulting in legendary releases on the German cult-label ant-zen, numerous live performances all over the globe in iconic clubs like CBGB’s New York, Rex Paris, KitKat Berlin and cities like Moscow, Beirut, Los Angeles, Chicago and so on, this one-man project, sometimes expanded with artists and performers from contemporary dance, theatre and film, is as unpredictable as the ideology behind it: a lo-fi, harsh, monotone assault of political thoughts, subversive rants and sheer emotional outbursts towards a society first questioned, deconstructed, destroyed and left behind without a solution or a better plan. Music as a weapon and as well as a tool for self-dissection. In recent years, hypnoskull got acknowledged by lots of producers and artists in the field of industrial techno, resulting in releases, collaborations, remix work and production for many of the big players in this genre.

For this podcast, hypnoskull selected a number of brandnew tracks and releases as well as some forgotten old gems. Crossing every possible border of whatever written and unwritten rules of whatsoever ‘scene’ or subculture, this mix fiercely shows what it is still about for Patrick Stevens, after 30 years of producing, playing live and deejaying, as he states himself: ‘I get claustrophobic when I witness how the techno scene became lately. Techno became the soundtrack provided by good looking boys and girls who strive to make their business plans come true, in clubs that degraded themselves from laboratories to corporate boxes of emptiness. That’s why I selected both some radical memories from tracks and styles which were once as well played in the clubs, and some brilliant music by new, young and emerging producers. Belgium is as well coming back from a low, especially in the city of Brussels, where plenty of astonishing producers be them Belgians or expats gather and create a new wave of exciting electronic music as we speak. That was a long time ago. They’re in here as well by the likes of Maltash, Elaina Vierce and Raum. And Paris as well, check Age of hate, ZNZL, Prophän,… There’s a great connection between both cities also. I truly believe great stuff will happen again very soon.’

Fairground of Tears is an artistic concept run by Piotr Śledziński.
A concept that is shaped by darker, industrial and more energetic techno genres.
Piotr experimented with electronic music in all colors,
partly through his former alias and alternative electronic design Ne Plus Ultra, as well as involvement with the publishing company Passive Front Records.
This broad experience and search for expression finally led him
to the Fairground of Tears concept and the EXILED series of events.
a series of events that hosted artists such as; Melanie, Operant, Violet Poison, Codex Empire,Domenico Crisci, Years of Denial, to name but a few, thus making it the top and prospective series of events. In the same vein, his own sets and productions are not restricted by any particular style.
As such, you can expect an eclectic mix in his mixes
dense industrial textures and techno climates, as well as EBM

Fairground of Tears to koncept artystyczny prowadzony przez Piotra Śledzińskiego. Koncepcja, która jest uformowana przez ciemniejsze, industrialne i bardziej energetyczne gatunki techno.
Piotr eksperymentował z muzyką elektroniczną we wszystkich kolorach, częściowo poprzez swój dawny alias i alternatywny projekt elektroniczny Ne Plus Ultra, a także zaangażowanie w wydawnictwo Passive Front Records. 
To szerokie doświadczenie i poszukiwanie ekspresji ostatecznie zaprowadziło go do koncepcji Fairground of Tears i serii wydarzeń EXILED, które gościło takich artystów jak; Melanię, Operant, Violet Poison, Codex Empire, Domenico Crisci, Years of Denial, by wymienić tylko kilku z nich,  w ten sposób  stając się czołową i perspektywiczną serią wydarzeń. W tym samym duchu jego własne sety i produkcje nie są ograniczone żadnym konkretnym stylem.
W związku z tym w jego miksach można spodziewać się eklektycznej mieszanki gęstych industrialnych faktur i klimatów techno, a także EBM.

He has made guest appearances for the CTM Festival at Tresor (Berlin), Fasma Festival (Athens), Forte Festival (Portugal) (with Mia Zabelka and Kira O'Reilly), Antiworld at Brixton Academy, Temple and Astron Bar (Athens) and Gegen at KitKat Club (Berlin). 

He recently curated The Boiler Room: Kaos London Edition and has created podcasts for New Brvtalism, Phormix and Mindless (Morocco). 

He runs Khemia Records and also curates the Kaos London residency on Rinse FM and the Kaos London Podcast series. Most recently he played alongside Oddz, Drew Mcdowall and Hiro Kone for Exist Festival, the first ever electronic music festival in Palestine.
