'Aggelos first approached Lurid Music with the idea for this project a few months ago. We agreed on one condition, that all proceeds be donated to refugee causes, like we did with his Black Sea EP which supported the Syrian refugee crisis. When Russia invaded Ukraine, we decided our focus had to be helping the Ukrainian refugees who were forced to leave their homes in search of safe havens abroad.

We discussed this with most contributors to the project and the consensus was that donations should strictly go to humanitarian groups and not any armament funds. There were also some thoughts about helping conflict-affected peoples in other parts of the world but we decided it was too much to tackle for a relatively small project like this one.

Therefore, donations stemming from the sales of this release will be distributed to the following humanitarian groups currently active in Ukraine or neighboring countries welcoming refugees:

The artwork was provided by Bill Brown, a Maryland native who lives and works in Ukraine. When the war started, he made his way safely to Germany via Poland. This illustration is an homage to Maria Prymachenko’s “May That Nuclear War be Cursed!”, which also inspired the title of this release. At our end of the music landscape, it's rare to find anyone not deeply touched by the music of Peter Kersten, aka Lawrence. He has been traversing the electronic music scene for over 20 years, guiding the iconic Dial label and stopping off at stalwarts as varied as Smallville to Giegling, while keeping a close companionship with Japan’s Mule Musiq. The 2022 Earthshine EP under his Sten moniker is his first full length contribution to the Sushitech catalogue and sees his voyaging take on deep techno onboard some added oomph. His club sets are an absolute must and reflect his honest, emotive and quirky personality, which we are lucky enough to share with you in this interview.

They currently host a regular open decks night in Sydney to help DJ's network and hone their skills.
