Balrog’s debut album, “The Northern Powerhouse” is composed of 8 hard-hitting techno tracks, focusing on heavy, groove-ridden drums, driving basslines and obscure, distorted vocals. His tracks take influence from classic, hard-grooving techno but with a fresh injection of modern, industrial power. The framework for the tracks was developed in the midst of the fallout from the UK leaving the EU and the numerous attempts to “level up” the north of the country through The Northern Powerhouse scheme, from which the album derives its name. Conceptually, the album is an attempt from the artist to dissociate himself from Brexit and the conservative government which has consistently stigmatised the most vulnerable in UK society and spread lies on an industrial scale in order to push forward their agenda. Through the album, a series of linked tracks mirror the raw divisions in society, not just between The North and The South of the UK, but also more widely representing divisions throughout the world. As the album develops, a more hopeful outcome is suggested, seeing the culture of underground music as having the potential to build connections and incite resistance in an increasingly divided world. Premiere: Balrog - Control The Night

We welcome TIARNØLA to episode 001 of our Disintegrated Podcast.

TIARNØLA is a techno DJ from Cork.  He draws his inspiration from early 2000s techno, and melodic trance elements.

 In 2021, he released on several techno labels including Dusk Records, Dancefloor Impact Research, Normative and Agora Records.  He also appeared on podcast series including NAKT and Technopsis.   
DJing wise his performances included playing at Pharmacia in Limerick for Kemmy Gaff, and different raves in Dublin & Cork.

This year he is releasing on both Irish & international labels, while also managing MTRPLS, a techno label which he co-runs.   

Most recently he made an appearance for Thump Techno, and this mix carries on in the same vein of form, drawing on the grooves of techno verterans DAVE The Drummer and David Moleon, and combining it with the power of newer artists such as Blicz, Blame the Mono & B2.

The second release on Hypnotic Journeys brings together emerging Georgian producers and celebrated names from the global techno scene, weaving a story of tension, resistance, and transcendence.

Batumi-based newcomer Grenuy opens the compilation with a debut ambient piece that feels both intimate and expansive, a slow-burning meditation on space and emotion. His work is reimagined by Van Morph, a revered producer and founder of Khoros Records, who drives the track into deeper territory with an old-school, hypnotic groove.

NFNM (formerly Kapa), a young yet distinctive voice in the Tbilisi underground, delivers a piece of textural techno rich with movement and raw emotion. The journey concludes with a powerful remix by Tsott, founder of the forward-thinking Spira Records, whose deep and cerebral approach brings the compilation full circle.

“Friction” is a testament to Hypnotic Journeys’ ethos: uniting generations, sounds, and visions through hypnotic techno as a futurist statement.

Vex Noir is an industrial dark techno DJ who began their journey into club music in Minsk's underground clubs and found their true sound in Berlin's industrial spaces. Influenced by EBM, dark wave, dark cinematic ambient, neoclassical, industrial (hypnotic, hard) techno, and Schranz, Vex Noir's sets are a powerful blend of rhythmic kicks and layered noise, creating an immersive and cathartic dance experience. Their performances, filled with melancholy, reflect a requiem for their childhood in a queerphobic society as a non-binary person. Vex Noir transforms the dance floor into a space for both deep reflection and liberation, pushing the boundaries of conventional club music.
