Playing more of the bass guitar has opened me up to sounds I've had locked in my head for some time.  I've been free to write without much holding me back and I'm liking the way it sounds.  After listening to this track I started to hum the melody of "All is Full of Love" by Bjork, it seemed to fit so I found the sample and layered her voice a bit.  After a few edits were made, I noticed the Nirvana sample and couldn't resist adding it to the mix.  I hope you like the groove that's been set with this one.  As always thanks for listening.

It was an honor to be invited and play Saturday evening in the cabin, alongside such brilliant and beautiful story tellers. I truly loved bringing my friends along for a deep, tribal, and rhythmic journey through sound. 

The cabin was where it all began for me back in October, 2015.  From ceremony to the incredible music and dancing of PYNK, it's a special and sacred place where we gather, express, and share in a feeling that's best translated through body language.

This mix is a full spectrum of emotions, as it's the last one I will make here in my Brooklyn sanctuary, that I've called home for the last eight years. It's a protection spell, for my friends and family here in New York and across the globe. Vernd is the Icelandic word for protection, and I hope that this sonic gift may bring peace, power, and the feeling of an expressive dancefloor, wherever you may be. Here's to the music that will bring us back together, so we can continue this epic dance of life.

VERND

Here's a remix I did many moons ago. Unkle released the album Psyence Fiction in 1998. A powerhouse of creativity and talent can be heard on the record. I was hooked by the eclectic and alternative sound it carried. Light years ahead of the game, this body of work is still a masterpiece.

The video for this track was directed by Jonathan Glazer and it's incredible.

I layered some keys and bass tones with some percussive richness, to give this version of the track a little Techture feel.

Catching The Ghost - Techture Edit

Here's a dubbed out experiment from the old days. I remember being heavily influenced by Dr. Dicks Dub Shack. A funny name, but the podcasts/playlists we're always on point.

I was living in San Francisco when this was written and feel I captured a key moment in time. Inspired by the natural beauty of the Bay Area, while enjoying elements of the metropolis that is San Francisco.

Here's my set from Friday late afternoon at PYNK, The Love Matrix. It was an honor to be invited for the opening spot, allowing me a chance to open up the space for what would be one of the most beautiful and memorable weekends of my life. Supreme gratitude and thanks to all who helped make this event such a special one.

This mix is a patient journey over the grass, around the fire, across the river and up the mountainside. I dedicate it to all the star gazers, lovers, music makers and dreamers of dreams.

Friends, I'd like to share a special track with you. It's a dedication to my experience at Burning Man 2016 - Da Vinci's Workshop. It was such a beautiful and surreal adventure, full of emotion, light, and incredible music. I send this out to all of the artists, musicians, lovers and magicians who helped make this a life enhancing journey for me. Gracias, gracias, gracias for everything you shared during that week of dusty possibility and chaotic joy. May it bring you back to a moment in time, where you danced with fire under the sky.

Sun Hunter

This is a remix of the song "A Drowning", by How To Destroy Angels. HTDA is another of Trent Reznor's amazing side projects, comprised of his lovely wife Mariqueen Maandig Reznor and supreme scoring partner Atticus Ross. 

The original track was put up for a remix contest some time ago, so I was able to grab the stems and mess around. I used Mariqueen's voice, some piano, and guitar from the original track. Wrote some original bass/synth layers, and built the beat around an arsenal of drums. 

This project is my way of showing respect to the genius of HTDA.

Kid A - Techture Edit

I've been writing a lot with guitar lately.  Working a state of peace into this track was important.  The intro carries into bass tones, then the subtle beat brings balance to the spectrum.  As I navigate through New York City, I shape the landscape I wish to see.  That's what this song helps me do.

The intro is DJ friendly, as the beat brings you into the familiar computer voice of Thom Yorke.  I had fun layering live synths and drum patterns over the original track.  Cutting the samples to work with, got me even deeper into the track I've loved since I first heard it.  I let the end trail out, as the original ending does so nicely.  Thanks for listening, Blake
