weird song, rejected by The Alber Dans for recording. They said it sounded like "Burton Cummings + the theme from Taxi"  (which is a huge compliment in my opinion.)
It is a weird song -lyrically...but I think its cool anyways and worth sharing

Thursdays Morning

One of my earliest songs describing the expedition to the south pole by Robert Falcon Scott, who was racing Roald Amunsden of Norway.  Scott and his team finally got there only to discover Roald had beat them to it.

1911 it was Scott versus Roald
Who would be first to the bottom of the world
With no sleds or huskies Scott hauled his supplies
To see his flag flying where the south pole lies

Lashed by fierce storms he fought his way through
Across the white desert where the wicked winds blew

In January of 1912 Scott wrote this down
"40 miles on the home stretch - to victory we're bound"
'I'll fly Englands flag at the bottom of the world"
"A toast to our victory at the bottom of the world"

On the 18th the five of them got to the pole
The 'flag' it was flying but it wasn't their own
"Great God" Scott wrote, "what a sickening place"
"It's been a month since Roald won the race"

They died on the way back
From hunger and cold
Just to be second - to the bottom of the world

In January of 1912 Scott wrote this down
