Same as "For All I Knew"  This is a Release for next year. All the bass, the guitars and the lead guitar are me. Basics took a day to record with everyone in the studio.  The lead guitar is one take. The groove is heavier in the Arabic mode then "For All I knew"  As I have stated, I am not into shredder guitar, (obviously I can play it) but I thought with the sexy groove I could get away with some silly guitar works here. Ted Mason (me)  Track from Mi5 Recordings Universal Music Group.   I play bass, guitars, produce, arrange strings and of course vocals and song writing.  Song is about my Father, he was British, my mom Nicaraguan.  We grew up in the 60's before civil rights was real.  He was the man who would be King in the family.  He was also the man that traveled, that help the British Empire conquer. He was very lonely, he was very much like Henry Mortan Stanley who helped coin the bigoted title Deepest Darkest Africa.  The key to England colonizing the world would be in the class system that did not allow people like my father to prosper but they could go to the farthest reaches of the empire and they would be King because they were English.  White and ran things in India, Burma, half of Africa etc.  But God forbid if you Married a WOG, you could never go back to England.  Well... my Dad did marry a Wog, my mother was from Central America.  Made for an unhappy relationship with England and his parents.  so that is what the lyrics are about, my Dad and Henry Mortan Stanley.

Soukous mixed with English Rock and funk.  Strings, sitars, and drums.  I play the guitars vocals, and bass.  3 takes and done.  Live with a few over dubs on the strings.  Think this is finished.  Rachel Golub Played all the violin parts and sitars.  Dave Eggars Cellos.  Song is about consumerism.  Every product is sold in the new consumer world as the savior of man!  Golden Arches, cars that are bigger then god. I saw a car company commercial that stated their car was revolution.  Is that what we have evolved to? is that evolution? Martin Luther King was revolution, Lennon, Tutu, Gandhi, Kennedy, FDR, Darwin.  Not products. So...thats the theme of the song. Is this revolution? is this evolution? products?

Just plain rock and roll (except with a groove) released a few years ago under Mi5 Recordings.  Not into Heavy Metal or Shred just does not have a groove and its not sexy.  this is as heavy as I want to go.  (PS yes I can shred but its not sexy). All the guitars are me, my brother laid down Rhythm guitars.  I did vocals, arrangement, production, singing of course, lead guitar and bass.  hope you like it.  

My Life  Ted Mason

A variation with the 11 string Alto guitar (11 separate strings, 4 inch neck, 5 1/2 octaves), 8 strings. Violin, viola and of course Dave Eggars on Cello.  2nd part is a Chamber Orchestra mixing Bebop Harmony and scales (division of octave and complex diminished 9th scales) with Classical musicians. We did these all in 2 takes.  It drove them mad but it was quite fun!


For god and country/Winters Sun - 11 String Guitar - Chamber Orchestra

This is off my album The Road To Mecca. We are lucky more than 4 million people have listened to this, and it is a serious departure from what I did with Modern English. It was released under my own label that I have had for 20 years, Mi5 Recordings Universal Music Group. The Darbuka is the Arab percussion that I have picked up in the last 15 years working with North African Musicians in Paris.  All the instruments are played as are the other songs on my postings of SoundCloud.  Real orchestras, sitars, Darbukas etc. drums, bass guitars, NO computer CORRECTIONS, mistakes and all are being heard.  I would rather have it organic.  On this track, "Another Day, Another Year," I played bass, guitars, and of course vocals on this.  Basics where recorded in 3 hours, vocal take was completed on 3rd round. Rather then explain the theme of the song, I believe the lyrics speak for themselves so I have posted them.

Another Day Another Year

Kind of a Bacharach vibe here with more Jazz chords.  Real strings again.  I handled vocals, guitars and bass and of course as always, string arrangement and conducting.  Did not take long to record this, it was natural.  I kept the arrangement and mix very dry so that it would be personal. However, when I go to master I might drop in a bit more ambience and reverb. In 2010 he has toured in Central Africa backed by Rwanda's Soukous All Stars and a duet with Lokua Kanza while producing the Fes Pad concert series for the country of Rwanda. He is currently producing a new solo album, an album with Hip Hop superstars Mobb Deep and a duet with Wyclef Jean and Mona Lisa.

Film Production
Mr. Mason has also worked as a composer and film producer on many films including the HBO Academy Award Winning Documentary film project "Music By Prudence," directed Roger Ross Williams. Past directors he has worked with included Milos Forman. He also works closely with his wife Jennifer Brunetti, (former company owner of Fbi Productions, Inc.) in producing video, film and live concert events most notably "Volvo for Life Awards" which included production logistics and booking of such acts as Sheryl Crow, Ziggy Marley, and Suzanne Vega.
