My 5th DJ set, this one was a renegade sunrise set performed on the UF-Fro Art car on Sunday morning. It begins chill beats and then makes it's way through a few genres, ending in deep house. 

TedDrops aims to play beautiful music that uplifts and transforms. It was great to see the reaction from the inspired crowd and including one man who was kneeling by the speaker crying for a couple songs.

Opening after a live band, I wanted to keep a majority of these tracks filled with organic funky live instruments with a touch of vaudeville swing, yet remixed to create a bouncy atmosphere to get the booties shaking.  Played outside at 3pm Saturday at Lightning in a Bottle at Highlove's Elixer Lounge. This is my 4th DJ set.

Penthouse Sunrise At Z's Loft

I woke up at 8am Sunday Morning and there was a raging sunrise party going on at our stage, so I let DJ Renegade finish off her set, then I started DJing and didn't not stop until 2pm. This mix starts chill, then gets dirty, then fun housy, then hip-hoppy, and finally into slow morning sunrise glitch bubble nuggets. Thanks to all the people who kept feeding me drinks and food so I could keep going!

A Lightning in a Bottle Morning (5+ Hour DJ Set)

This mix starts with a ton of brand new music, which transforms from happy dance to dark dirty bass and then settles into an hour of deep and tropical house music.

Dragon Fire (Burning Man Bass Set)

The story behind this DJ set is a nice example of the playa magic that often happens at Burning Man. 

I had only slept for two hours, after a long Saturday night/Sunday morning the after the Man Burn.  I was awake because I wanted to spend the last day at Burning Man exploring the playa during the day, which was a first because it was always too hot to leave camp. But the night before I had intentionally planted a camelback full of water on the other side of the playa at the Playa School stage, so that would have to cross the playa to get it on this final day. 

I wondered if people would still be up on the Abraxas dragon art car. All weekend I had been itching to play a more chill DJ set after my friday night heavy bass set on the Abraxis. With a hunch that I would be able to manifest an opportunity to play, I packed up my laptop and DJ mixer and my girl and I headed to find the Abraxas, which luckily parks about 6 blocks from our camp on 2 & D.

We found the Abraxas parked with nobody on it, so I hid my mixer and laptop under the DJ booth with the hope that I may find it later with people on it, and perhaps there would be an open slot for me to DJ. 

After dropping off the gear, we then explored the playa art and partied for a while at Pink Mammoth on the 10 o'clock side of the playa until the sun was beginning to set and we decided to leave. 

Then, to our good fortune, as soon as we hit the esplanade the Abraxas was right in front of us, and it wasn't playing music! It's driver, Bobcat, was on a mission to bring his brothers ashes to the temple before they burned it after sundown. Time was tight! So we threw our bikes on the back porch of the dragon, I plug in my DJ rig, and drop a delicate opening track onto their massive government-issued sound system. We then drive to the temple to drop off the ashes, and then back to camp to pick up people, and then quickly back to the temple, for it had just started burning when we were gathering more people at camp. Meanwhile, I'm holding sonic space, lost in sound and buttons, in a delicate daze dancing with my mixer.

During the last moment of this mix we are literally pulling up to the burning temple as I fade out, feeling so blessed that I got this opportunity. It was one of the final and most beautiful moments that I had at burning man.

This set is a tribute to to Bobcat's brother, to Aaron Joel Mitchell (who sacrificed himself in the man fire the night before), and to the mortal delicacy of this life that we are fortunate to experience.

Dragon Upon A Burning Temple (Sunset to Temple Burn)

Recorded live at Tina and Rewi's Enchanted Wedding in Grass Valley, Nevada. I gotta say, this is is my favorite set to date. By the last song I couldn't stand anymore and had to crawl out from behind the DJ booth and collapse into a cuddle puddle.
