I was listening to Ibeyi "Think of You" when at around the 2:52 mark the beat dropped out. An obscure, beautiful sample faintly came in and forced me to give my favorite reaction to any art: "What the fuck is THAT?"

I said that out loud. I was driving alone in the car. 

After getting home I did some research and found out it was sampled from an artist named Kid Atlaas from Paris. The track is called "Winter Is Coming". After more research I found out he died in 2014. The (1994-2014)listed on all his pages means he was likely only 20 or 21. 

I didn't know him personally. I don't know how he died. I was/am worried how he or his family would feel about me using a piece of his art post-death. How does any artist feel about that? How does any human feel about that? The stories and things we have of them after they leave. What we choose to do with them.

I read the comments on his work and wonder if he knows the things he left behind are helping to keep the world spinning. I wonder if that was his goal or if he was just making what he felt or for fun.

This sample I heard instantly sparked the inspiration for a concept I've been pondering for a while. The concept of a hero from the bottom, that only helps the bottom. And no one else. Hopefully it plays a smart part in helping your world keep spinning.
