In this amazing set of music, Ian Cooke combines virtuosic cello performance and masterful singing with looped sounds to create a wondrous canvas for his quirky, insightful, and emotional songs.

Some of Ian’s influences are Queen, ABBA, Bjork, Rufus Wainwright, Joanna Newsom, Bear McCreary, as well as much of the classical music he encountered studying the cello. Born in Adelaide, Australia, and raised in Greeley, Colo., Cooke tours throughout the U.S. frequently. He has 2 full-length albums: The Fall I Fell from 2007, and Fortitude, released in 2011. He recently published a children's book called Cassowary and Fruit Bat, based on a song of his. His next album features songs about dinosaurs.

Music is eternal and its capacity to mature are endless. Kanishk Seth shows us his music and the inspiration behind his work.

A 20 year old music producer working with Sufi and trance music, Kanishk has released 2 albums till date. Having a family background in music, he started off early with the Hindustani classical violin. As a result, Kanishk took his musical experience to a different level from a very early age. When he started working along with his mother to make music, he was just 14 years old. He now wants to produce good quality music, and share his source of inspiration with the world.

When asked to describe what kind of music they make, the three members of Thirdstory—Elliott Skinner, Ben Lusher, and Richard Saunders—all respond with a nervous laugh. Known for their sublime vocal harmonies and uncanny knack for reconfiguring the language of pop songs, the music that the trio creates together is fantastically genre defying. “That’s the million dollar question, isn’t it?” laughs Lusher, “We usually say it’s pop songwriting mixed with soulful vocals, live instrumentation and elements of folk guitar and electric guitar, with a very hip hop influence on the production. So basically it’s everything.” 

A collaborative effort in the truest sense of the word, Thirdstory’s forthcoming full-length debut reflects the group’s wide range of influences and diverse backgrounds.

The Juggernaut Jug band perform their instruments.

What do you get when you blend jazz, blues ragtime, swing and original music with washboards, washtubs, kazoos, jugs and various other sundry hardware? Nothing less than the strange concoction called the JUGGERNAUT JUG BAND, based in Louisville, Kentucky. While members of the band are accomplished musicians, “They don’t let virtuosity get in the way of having fun.” (Washington Post) Each performance is a challenge to the audience to have as much fun as the band. Don’t let their antics fool you though. Their exuberant music is the result of skillfully conceived arrangements and unique vocal harmonies.

Ntjam Rosie is a blend of Africa and Europe. She speaks in a voice that's low and warm but when she sings, the notes rise into the air.

At the age of nine, Ntjam Rosie arrived in The Netherlands from a small village in Cameroon. As a singer/songwriter now she still gets inspired by her homeland. She is now based in Rotterdam and has been turning heads in her adopted home country. That is because of her exciting, very personal Afro-European blend of soul, jazz, folk, gospel and world music. Ntjam Rosie’s talent reached the North Sea Jazz festival and she will now perform at TEDxAmsterdam. Listening to her you can’t resist saying that the future is bright. The future is Rosie.

City of the Sun was created in 2010, in the subways, streets, and local bars of New York City. They began as “buskers,” or street performers, and their driving rhythms and fluid melodies immediately caught the attention of New York locals. Describing City’s sound can be a bit of a challenge—words never seem to give it justice. It is distinctly eclectic—a mélange of flamenco, blues, and indie/folk rock.

Casto Dominguez es un joven sevillano de 32 años licenciado en Administración y dirección de empresas y marketing, que a los 17 años de edad sufrió un cancer en su cadera. Esta enfermedad le tuvo casi dos años apartado en los cuales aprendió a dar valor a las cosas fundamentales de la vida y sobre todo a disfrutarla y sacarle el máximo jugo en cada momento. Años más tarde sacó su primer disco el cual su éxito le llevó a llenar plazas como el Teatro Lope de Vega y compartir escenarios con grandes artistas como Miguel Poveda, José Manuel Soto, Arturo Pareja-Obregon, etc También participó en los principales canales de televisión y radio y compuso canciones para otros artistas. En la actualidad compagina su carrera musical, en la cual estrenó su segundo disco este pasado año con un "no hay billetes" en uno de los teatros más emblemáticos de su ciudad natal, con su segunda gran pasión la cual nunca ha dejado de lado que es la de ser Asesor Financiero de prestigio.

Native from San Juan, Argentina, “J.P.” Jofre is a award winning bandoneon player and composer. Mr Jofre has been repeatedly highlighted by the New York Times and praised as one of today’s leading artists by Great Performers at Lincoln Center. His music has been recorded by 17 Grammy Winner Paquito D’ Rivera and choreographed/performed by ballet star Herman Cornejo (Principal Dancer of the American Ballet Theatre) among others. A recipient of the National Prize of the Arts grant in Argentina, Mr. Jofre has taken his form of contemporary tango to some of the most important venues in Asia, Europe, America and the Caribbean as soloist and composer.

Existing for over a decade, and releasing 5 albums and two EPs to date; Dr. Draw is still progressing forward transcending genres and producing energetic productions. Dr. Draw will be joined by a live electronic artist, aCote. Originally from Quebec, aCote has been working with Dr. Draw for the past 6 years. He's a talented producer/performer, who has taken electronic dance music into the cerebral plain.

A lifelong passion for bluegrass and old-time Appalachian music led Hannah Standiford down an unconventional path of music and culture. In 2011, she discovered Gamelan Raga Kusuma, a community Balinese gamelan group, which began her obsession with Indonesian music. During her 2014-2015 academic year she studied in Solo, Java under the Darmasiswa Scholarship and discovered keroncong, a style of Indonesian string band music. In her talk at TEDxRVAWomen, Hannah describes how Indonesia is known for a laid back sense of time in comparison to the United States. When one relaxes into this flow, an incredible amount of opportunities can present themselves. Interestingly enough, there are several parallels between elements of Indonesian music and this relation to the everyday passing of time.


A passion for bluegrass and Appalachian music led Hannah Standiford down an unconventional path. She moved from Baltimore to Richmond in 2007 to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in classical guitar performance at Virginia Commonwealth University. In 2011, she discovered Gamelan Raga Kusuma, a community Balinese gamelan group, which began her obsession with Indonesian music. During her 2014-2015 academic year she studied in Solo, Java under the Darmasiswa Scholarship and this is when she began to learn keroncong, a style of Indonesian music. Hannah founded Rumput, which is a folk group that mixes keroncong and Appalachian music.

Sako Dermenjian performs Tango En Skai - to show the fragmentation of his family and their lives together at having to leave Syria. Upon reflection of this experience - and then the challenge of making a new home in Australia - Sako says his "life is now like Capricho Arabe" - which he also performs - mindful, meditative, contemplative.

Sako Dermenjian is a classical guitarist. He is Armenian, but lived in Syria, which his family left because of the civil war. They arrived in Wollongong, Australia in November 2014. Sako has gradually gained acclaim for his talent playing guitar, and he is now heavily booked as a performer.
