i recorded this to reconnect with my best friend after some years spent drifting apart due to life and troublesome romances and other things.

i just relearned this song so i wanted to try and put together a new arrangement of it. there are two rhythm guitar tracks of just chord strums and two fingerpicked tracks—one at the base key and one at capo 8 an octave up with some slight differences.

this was recorded in acoustically the worst room i've ever been in probably. it was the back of my  friend's house, where i was crashing at the time. it's a disproportionately long sideways room with gloss paint walls and an obviously uneven tile floor. so it's a pretty noisybad recording.

artificially double-tracked vocals sound weird. that was kind of the point, but it didn't come out sounding quite how i wanted. oh well.

the "bass" track is actually a classical guitar mic'd through an octave pedal and it actually came out sounding not half bad, so. that was neat.

but it's one of my favorite arrangements i've "written" to this day. & this first take has a special place in my heart despite the recording quality. && also cos it's on the shittiest $50 epiphone acoustic i got when i was in like 7th grade, since my real guitar was being fostered by a friend at the time while i had a super unstable housing situation

i mostly recorded this to prove to a friend that i could figure it out before the next time we hung out; she had been requesting it one night and it just wasn't a thing i knew how to play at the time. but now i do.

while trying to record it, i encountered some sort of terrible muscle confusion while trying to play the intro bit, where i would mess up hundreds of times in the exact same spot by moving the wrong finger. i've mostly gotten over it, but it'll still sometimes happen despite my muscle memory and any amount of concentration. so i guess something is just wrong with me.
