Chicago is known for great music, amazing cuisine and a breeding ground for talent. TeeKah Monique, born and raised on the Southside of this cultural city, has become a triple threat and is ready to make her mark in the entertainment world. At a very young age, TeeKah's family realized her vocal ability and showcased it at nearly every family gathering. She participated in a number of talent showcases including one in Tuley Park where she wowed the audience with a cover of Whitney Houstons Saving All My Love and swept the competition. As time went on she continued to explore her talents and eventually joined the youth choir at Israelite Missionary Baptist Church. She eventually formed an R&B girl group by the name of Xplicit. This is where she got her first taste of the business while sharpening her writing and performing skills. The group was a local success and was often compared to R. Kellys chart topping group Changing Faces. Through networking, TeeKah became acquainted with Mario Coleman who was forming his own label at the time. Impressed by her talent, he invited TeeKah to be the first lady of Topnotch Productions. She gladly accepted his offer and began work immediately. Over the next four years she recorded original material and lent her voice to her label mates projects whenever needed. In 2000 she landed a gig being the opening act on the High School Tour, featuring Lil Zane, Jagged Edge, 112 and Public Announcement. Do to all of the bumps in the road, TeeKah began to question if this career was meant for her and enlisted into the U.S Military. Even while fighting for her country, she could not run from her true passion. She continued to write and record. Life wasnt always easy for this Mid-West humming bird but she made it through and is ready to share her experiences with the world. Her first project will be mix of original songs as well as a few familiars.
