This is a track I made back in 2004, so about 20 years ago, as a young teenager. Now, in 2024, I'm releasing a remixed version of it.

Chrysalism

One of the darkest pieces I've ever composed. I wanted to combine heavy metal aesthetics with experimental music, yet achieve a concentrated expression. All sounds originate from my cello, and my voice, and are manipulated with some e.g. reverberation and overdrive effects.

As The Darkness Falls Screaming

"Chanson vespérale du compositeur" is originally a four channel electroacoustic piece based on "Künstlers Abendlied" by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. The piece contains me reciting the poem in four different languages: German, French, English and Finnish, and then applying different effects on my vocals. French translation by Pierre Mathé, English by Emily Ezust and Finnish by V.A. Koskenniemi.

Heart of the Machine is a piece for one cello and a live electronics setup containing a looper, a whammy pedal, an overdrive pedal, laptop with a Max patch, and other thingies. Musically, it explores different pizzicato techniques, something which some people might call blues, and experimental electronic music. It is my first complete solo cello piece.

Heart Of The Machine

This is a track I composed for Henry "Aurelius" Koivula's Doom map "Remnant". In the game, the track loops infinitely when the player is playing the map, and that gave me the framework to work with considering the form. It is composed entirely of MIDI commands, which are played back by Microsoft Wavetable Synth.

Bio:
I have graduated from Contemporary Performance and Composition (CoPeCo) Master's program, which is a joint program between the music universities in Tallinn, Stockholm, Lyon, and Hamburg. Before that I studied in Turku to become a cello teacher, and also musicology.

I like to work in the context of multiple genres: both separately and joining them together. Besides my own stuff I have collaborated with film, poetry, visual arts, performance art, dance and video games. Since 2019 I have been the cellist of Ensemble for New Music Tallinn.
