The Bearded Man was walking along the shore, waiting for the sunset as he faced west. He wasn’t in a hurry mind you, it was more of a tradition than anything. He was walking around a rocky bend when he chanced upon a beached whale, very much alive, right around the corner. There was no one in sight. Needless to say, he felt terrible, but what could he do? How could one tiny dude possibly move this enormous creature, especially with no technology and being so far away from civilization? Just then, a small mouse scurried past him, heading towards the whale. The mouse said: “Don’t worry guys, I got this!” The Bearded Man — and the whale — were stunned. The whale, desperate as she was, bellowed out a hearty laugh. She said “I’d love to believe you little mouse, I really would, but I think we’re going to have to be realistic on this one.” The mouse said: “Nonsense! Give me 5 minutes!” The mouse then started to dig a tiny hole with his teeny tiny baby paws. He might as well have been moving one grain of sand at a time, and it was taking forever. Finally, after exactly 4 minutes of digging, he uncovered a big red button in a plastic cage under the sand, and gestured for The Bearded Man to push it. The Bearded Man pushed the button, and they heard the sound of enormous gears creaking into motion. The whole beach began to shake like an earthquake and started to tilt upwards, bringing the whale with it. When the slope got high enough, the whale began rolling downwards towards the ocean until she was safe in the water at last. When the mechanism had completed its task, everything slowly returned back to normal, and the mouse covered up the button once more with sand. The mouse looked at The Bearded Man and said: “What? Just cuz I’m tiny doesn’t mean I’m not a genius and can’t build stuff over the course of several, agonizing years that might someday come in handy. Luck is when preparation meets opportunity, dumbass.” It was a strange lesson, but one that The Bearded Man will never forget.

Diplo & Sleepy Tom - Be Right There (Flava D Remix)

Fresh from Catz ’N Dogz own recent remixes of Disclosure, Roisin Murphy and Rufus comes their own remix album of the critically acclaimed “Basic Colour Theory” album the Polish DJs, producers and Pets Recordings’ label owners have now invited a prolific array of artists to remix a selection of the LP’s signature tracks. 

This collection will be released digitally as well as on vinyl on 11th March 2016

The 2015 original LP combined traditional songwriting meets Catz ‘N Dogz trademark infectious basslines; a natural result of extensive sonic exploration and the osmotic process of years of DJing worldwide, all the while developing a deeper understanding of what they want to deliver through their music.

From more simple edit work, to entire tonal shifts, the pair’s songwriting has been reassembled by an eclectic, star-studded cast of beatmakers that include Jamie Jones,  Claude Von Stroke, Karizma, Fred Everything, Anja Schneider and Eats Everything to Maurice Fulton, Jay Shepheard and Matthew Herbert whom as well as contributions from Psychemagik, Skudge, Ptaki, and Yotam Avni all skillfully apply curious fusions of their own unique musical roots. 

This is a remixer's remix compilation that succeeds in connecting the tracks musical dots into a singular musical vision. 

Rethought and reimagined, melodies and vocals are respectfully trimmed away In favour of new found rhythms., The remix clearly thought of as an extended method of quotation, citation and commentary with each new sound enforcing the consistency and dependability of Catz ‘N Dogz original production

Highlights “Good Touch”, “Get It Right” and “The Joy” becoming equally bulkier in vibe, more expansive, yet often less capacious in detail.  Each remix a smart move that lets the originals greatness speak for itself.

Across the weighty 16 tracks of warm grooves and up-tempo cuts, each remix demands attention; blissfully capturing the original's fun-based lovingness and while often delivering unlikely juxtapositions carefully avoids any artistic tangle.

Chupacabras and Brother Y join forces to form the debut vinyl release from "Tutamen" a new imprint based in Bristol. Brooklyn resident and elusive production talent Chupacabras offers up two machine-powered cosmic cuts, expanding upon the territory explored with his contributions to the Tutamen tape series and last years EP for Go Finger. “I made this track — or rather the sketch for this track — on a long train ride which took me almost through all of Germany on a south to north route from one gig to another,” he tells us. ”The time flew by — even though it was an almost seven-hour trip. In the past he has released tons of singles and remixes and 2 albums (1 on Freude Am Tanzen in 2011 and 1 on Bpitch in 2014). 
Douglas Greed is known for his melancholic, organic, emo techno tracks. Surrounded by hills and forests, crossed by a river, far from the extravagances of Berlin and mostly inhabited by students, Jena is the artistic home of Douglas Greed’s music. 
His versatile DJ skills cover every mood in a heavy weekend of partying. His musical output covers a broad stylistic range while retaining its own clear fingerprint and often bypassing the conventions of purely functional club music.
Douglas Greed has also been spreading more bass-heavy vibes for many years in his live set-up with Fabian Kuss on vocals (who is also featured on ’Like Feathers’) and Michael Nagler on drums.
Douglas Greed - ‘Guilty’ will be out February 15th on Exploited. 2016 will also see a new track from him on a compilation by Recondite.

Boxed In - All Your Love Is Gone (Joshua James Remix)

Performance day is finally here – and our excitement has amplified tenfold. Tonight beholds the world-first performance between the London Contemporary Orchestra and Actress – which we have had the honour to commission and curate alongside the LCO, and will also broadcast live from the Barbican tonight. Today, we are celebrating with a Debut from notable cellist, composer, producer and LCO soloist, Oliver Coates.

His Upstepping mini-album opus – forthcoming on Moshi Moshi's contemporary classical and experimental label, PRAH Recordings – illustrates Coates' deeply contrasting interests in music. Having formerly collaborated with Jonny Greenwood, Mica Levi and now also Actress, and listing his direct influence from the likes of early Orbital and Photek, electronic reflections can easily be traced in the instrumental lyricism and classically versed composition patterns of each of Upstepping's eight tracks. On being asked about "Timelapse (Walrus)", Coates explained to us: "I was living in a hotel for a month because our flat got flooded, and listening to the chromatic steps of happy / sinister early nineties techno. Then I was taking cello harmonics and cutting off the fronts and making sample keyboards out of them. Everything that sounds like it could be a piano or keys starts from a piece of cello residue. The spoken audio is a small child saying ‘small child gets scared to death’. The body of the cello makes everything woody with the colours. I like techno made out of spruce."
