"The entire album consists of samples and sounds from the 1996 Egyptian cult film ‘Al Nom Fil Assal’ (Arabic: النوم فى العسل, English: “A Deep Sleep” or “Sweet Oblivion”). The satire features legendary comedian Adel Emam, directed by the great Sharif Arafa and scored by Omar Khayrat, the film tackles topics like sexual impotence, corruption, ignorance and frustration in Egyptian society which led it to become one of a kind audio-visual experience in the Arab world.
Osman Arabi, a veteran producer known for pioneering black metal and noise in the early 2000s from Al-Mina Lebanon, describes the format of his album as an “18-track cinematic audiobook”. This musical reinterpretation is an homage to the very essence of the film that revolves around the question: What does the spirit of a world that has gone mad look like?"

production notes:
This started out with a narrative I wrote for the track about a lone figure that awoke without memory in a cave that appeared to be sentient, and inhabited ravers entranced by strange relics. The usual psychedelic trope stuff. I recorded the vocals myself, and used them to inform the initial arrangement of the track. It became evident that the story would result in a evolving and winding musical expedition. However, my voice really didn't suit it. So I used elevenlabs to generate a new AI version of the vocals - that are used here. Later I stripped most of the vocals out, however the story they informed is now the song.

Each track I make offers new challenges.. here I really wanted to shift genres and sounds a lot. It sounds quite basic, but there's a lot going on here from a bassline that absolutely isn't traditional psytrance (although the base pattern is inspired by "Robotoised" by Quirk), to shifting from saw bass, to square wave, to switching the whole thing up in to a Brazil-inspired shponglised breakdown - considering I had no knowledge of this musical style, let alone how to produce it. However the real challenge was finishing this track. The arrangement has been 'complete' for months now with me tweaking and trying to polish it up enough to release it. 

I also decided to make this a multi-part song. Again, inspired by Shpongle albums where tracks eb and flow between each other. Part 2 of this isn't included here, but I hope I can make it become a full mixed album. Something for later.

Restive Plaggona is a Greek project, which grows more and more intriguing with every release. This new album by Dimitris Doukas, a producer from Corfu, has a bright cinematic character and would perfectly suit a cyberpunk dystopia. The plot is populated by sharp-toothed post-industrial creatures with a technoid bite (do you remember that dream you had last night?). However, narrative is not limited to playing cat and mouse with monsters. Rather, a supposed protagonist enters into rather whimsical relationships with them. The album's name, according to the author, is "political in nature and refers to our obligation to reject any relationship with power and order". In this case the disturbing tunes of 'Orders Rejected' can be treated as a story about dangers on the way to Edem of social self-organisation (or its unexpected implications).
