Sondela Recordings continue to champion the future stars of Afro house with their latest release from South African DJ/producer Karyendasoul and LA based vocalist Zhao. Having previously remixed Zhao’s Surreal Sounds release ‘Magic’, Karyendasoul’s modern take on the Afro house sound makes a perfect match for Zhao’s dulcet voice, as seen on their Sondela debut ‘In Control’. Capturing Sondela’s Where Afro meets tech intentions, Karyendasoul’s elegant combination of futuristic synth stabs and atmospheric chords make an otherworldly backdrop to Zhao’s vocal, as traditional percussion and rhythmic drums give the record its authentic Afro sound. Another stunning release from the Sondela camp, destined for the dancefloor.

The hugely talented Thandi Draai makes her debut on Get Physical this May, delivering her new single ’Iris’ with DJ Clock, Karyendasoul and Cuebur remixes. 

DJ, producer and gifted vocalist Thandi Draai, has established herself as a true rising star, with music released via the likes of Soulistic, Soul Candi and Defected. This independent artist’s dreams became a reality when she moved to Johannesburg and made it to the semi-finals on South Africa’s ’1s and 2s’ DJ-producer TV show. Draai continues to build her impressive discography by making her debut on Get Physical with the stellar ’Iris’, backed with remixes from afro-house master DJ Clock, Karyendasoul and Cueber. 

Captivating opener ’Iris’ is a work of electronic art, fueled by Thandi Draai’s elegant vocals set against eerie synths and soaring high frequency elements. First of the remixes sees DJ Clock’s deliver a deep and dubby cut, with jazz-tinged percussion accompanied by hypnotic snares and delicate keys to reveal a chilled, after-hours production. 

Karyendasoul’s eclectic remix harnesses swirling melodies, broken drum patterns and sci-fi vibrations to reveal an outer-space styled hit, before Cuebur’s remix finishes things off with delicate percussion and warm bass motifs which make for a hazy track that completes an impressive package.

We are super excited to begin the new year with a very unique soul in the music, South African based singer, songwriter Jackie Queens, she is on Nulu for the first time with an impressive and powerful song called 'Higher'. The project brings together four tracks including two hot versions and two instrumental mixes produced by Botswana's Dj,      producer Benny T with his Mix and Zambian music producer and Dj, Sebastien Dutch with his Remix.  We asked Jackie to explain this powerful song to our audience and this is what she said: 'we live in an ever-changing world, where many things are beyond our control; seasons, our destiny or what happens between the time we rise and fall asleep. 
It helps to remember that all we have to do is focus on our journey and sphere of influence through all the uncertainty. No matter the time of day or year, it's always your season. Even if the world is crashing, you can take control of your life, what you do, the choices you make, and fall higher'. It couldn't be a more perfect moment to kick off the new year with not only a powerful art-ist but a powerful track to inspire us all.
