Papadosio - Live At Envision 2014 - Uvita, Costa Rica - New Love

DubCOliNG’s latest expedition into the endless expanse of electronic music takes the producers tunes in a slightly different direction. The artist began his journey through the study of turntablism, an art form that isn’t nearly as prevalent in contemporary electronic music as it used to be, especially in the realm of psychedelic bass. There are a handful of artists who still incorporate scratching into both their production and live sets, but the times of elite vinyl DJing have passed. DubCOliNG doesn’t see it that way. The “In Depth” EP, follow-up to last years “Elevate” EP, builds upon the stable foundation of babbling bass, vivacious vibration and succinct tribal-infused psychedelia laid last December.
The heavy distinction between “In Depth” and it’s predecessor is the inclusion of the artist’s skill on the turntables. Earlier this year, DubCOliNG released an exclusive Serenity Gathering mix, which contained a fair amount of scratching over an assortment of alluring tunes from a wide range of styles. It’s instantly evident the producer has obviously been practicing the craft. The first track “Swivel Hop” wastes no time and cuts straight to the chase. A magnificently minimal percussion track bounces every which way with snare rolls, congos, and crisp clicks and claps. Eventually a low horn bellows in with a vicious Hip-Hop demeanor, and DubCOliNG’s scratching comes back to trade licks with the growling vocal intonations that pepper the track. The projects title track has a vicious punch to it, with a delightful chorus of cowbells that fall right in line with the wicked wobble. DubCOliNG certainly has a knack for inventive percussion, and the layering throughout the EP is baffling. Every time you think you’ve reached the peak, you get a little higher. The final track “Warp Through,” reels you in with a haunting ringing sound paired with a great deal of scintillating scratches.
There’s no getting your marbles back. DubCOliNG’s decision to include a hefty measure of turntablism influence on this release is part of what makes this project unique, and a must have for another canticle collector.

It’s not dubstep, it’s not glitch and it’s not straight up hip hop, per-say.  
I guess I would call it, Psychedelic Bass Music.  This is how I hear it with a blend of bass heavy 808’s and hyphy rock. 

Explosive 2012 Mixtape is a mish mosh of many, many samples and original sounds layered through the mix.  It’s old, it’s present and it’s the future.  I actually just threw in a live section from NYE that went off….

There are a few brand new tracks in there that my music producer friend, Neal Stewart and I are working on under our new name, Laura Low and Lemurr. Amp Live lives up to his title as one of California’s most versatile and prolific producer-DJ double-threats with the release of his album, MZOZO, now available on Gravitas Recordings. The pieces symbolize Anthony’s embrace of the future, as his forward-thinking inclination to eliminate boxes and labels manifests within the eclectic tracks. Contrasting from previous dreamy lo-fi and experimental projects, MZOZO, titled after the Swahili word for ‘conflict,’ is a progression into heavier bass music and represents Anthony’s change in pace and exploration. This fresh direction affirms his status as an innovative multi-genre experimenter that does not focus on one singular sound. True to his notable technique of infusing hip hop and electronic music, the six euphonious tracks draw listeners on a voyage across multi-genre acoustic environments that include various sensational collaborations.

Featuring Zyme, “Riott” launches the album off high energy by blending hip hop alongside funky bass and a tasty sax riff. Amp Live and Monika Santucci continue the party in “You Know,” with claps to introduce the heavy bass and a fierce horn that constructs the pathway into an electronic wave. Greeted by a flute and spacey trap beat, listeners encounter turntable action in “Dropz,” which signals a new and unconventional route onto another feel-good expedition. Resuming the alternate odyssey, Mad Zach and Amp Live’s “Space and Time” achieves a mellow trap soundscape that tantalizes eardrums. “Let Me Fly” presents future bass with a twist, as metallic synths meld the traditional upbeat sounds signature to future bass into Amp Live’s darker style found within the album. In collaboration beside West Coast Wobble master SubDocta, “Radical Sound” offers an enticing rhythmic flow to tether the musical masterpiece altogether.
