In Hour 2 we're joined by BreakBeat Lou, a true legendary figure in hip hop culture. Alongside Lenny Roberts, he co created the Ultimate Breaks and Beats series that provided samples for most of the top Hip Hop producers from DJ Premier, Large Professor, The Bomb Squad, Pete Rock, Dr. Dre and Marley Marl, to J Dilla, Salaam Remi and Just Blaze. They began compiling albums of classic breaks that had been played by Kool Herc and Afrika Bambaataa, but they soon became sample sources for the next generation of producers, often using edits of the tracks done by Lou. The classic Amen break used in Jungle is just one example that appeared early on in this series. We don't have a track list for his mix, but you'll recognise some of them from the UBB series plus plenty more obscure gems from his collection and you can catch him spinning alongside Peanut Butter Wolf on their European tour this week.

Austin-based Grammy-nominated psychedelic latin funk band Brownout debuted their remake/tribute to Kid Frost's 25 year old Latin pride hip-hop classic "La Raza," digitally via NPR last year.  Now, after many calls for a physical release, on Oct. 12th, 2016 or Dia De La Raza, Brownout adds to the celebration of the heritage of  Latin America and the ethnic and cultural differences that make it distinct, by releasing this limited run 45.  It was an absolute pleasure to be invited to play at the 20th Anniversary of Shambhala Music Festival in the amazing Fractal Forest this year. Big thanks to Rich Rich and the rest of the Fractal team for putting on the best show on earth and welcoming me into the family with open arms. The set I played was by far the best time I’ve ever had on stage and feel incredibly lucky to have shared that moment with all the amazing people at Shambhala.
