Who's Seen My Love?

Hello My Friend

Tembeh is my little project. She is my diary filled with love, grief, nostalgia, trauma and joy. Hello, I am Thembe Adeline. I am an introvert. As a little girl, all that mattered to me was my piano and the two albums I burned onto my iPod: Florence + the Machine’s “Ceremonials” and London Grammar’s “If You Wait”. These albums lurched me into a world of solitude, daydreams, reflections and spirituality, which became the catalysts to Tembeh’s unique sound. Tembeh began with classical piano lessons, which spilled into guitar obsessions and amateur production sessions on GarageBand. What we have now is a fusion of genre-bending instrumentals, mature and heavenly vocals, old voice memos and echoes of spiritual awakening.  All of which coming from my little bedroom somewhere in South Africa. 

“Summer Theory” is Tembeh’s latest release. It tells a story of love between two people, a feeling we’re introduced to in “Fireworks at Night”. The female protagonist in the album shares her fears that she is not with the right person in “Good Girls Drown”. She ignores the red flags within the relationship and continues to keep the relationship going. “Summer Theory” progresses to highlight the laws of nature: even the Summer, which is stereotypically filled with love, passion and fruition, has its end. The climax of the album, “Orbit”, brings a tragic conclusion to our love story: the fate between the lovers is ruined and doomed. 

Tembeh’s next album is scheduled for release in June 2022
