« Morphers » is a rattling 3 tunes split that was forged between French producer Flore and San Francisco’s Only Now. The release represents the unwritten language shared between both friends over the past 7 years, with their affinity for propulsive percussion workouts and livewire bass music. After releasing on the POLAAR label for years, Only Now and Flore finally met in person for a collab long awaited.

"In EGM, I've created a subgenre of the GQOM genre that resembles the original sound but differs in specific ways. This new era showcases my creativity, incorporating different forms of House music with African sounds.

As a contemporary artist, it's crucial to have a unique signature or sound that accurately represents your true self, and EGM is that for me.

I find GQOM to be one of the most powerful and spiritual genres ever created, and it's gaining popularity as the years go by. I've also noticed that other genres are slowly entering the GQOM style, creating 'broken beats' that are a testament to its power and influence.

Late jazz/African A-frolic artist, Fela Kuti, emphasized the spiritual significance of music and the importance of using it well to live a life of purpose. When he said “Music is a spiritual thing. You don’t play with music. If you play with music, you’ll die young. When the higher forces give you a gift of music, musicianship it must be well used…”

As Dim Fumes, bass duo Thrived and score composer No Bloom Now come together to create an exquisite blend of club sound and pop-influenced storytelling.
With numerous releases on Voitax, Club Qu and others, Thrived have proven their ability to produce fresh yet seasoned tunes, making them an integral part of Berlin's underground scene for years. No Bloom Now's work as a composer for film, theatre and games over the past few years has given him experience in writing strong themes and emotionally complex melodies.

As a band, Dim Fumes bring together the vocal points of both projects to create danceable, melancholic melodies full of euphoria. No Bloom Now's intimate vocals take centre stage,
Thrived's dense drum aesthetic builds the fundament in which the three create a melange best described as ambient bass-pop.

Their very first single, Bright Spots, can be seen as a North Star for the sonic direction the three are heading. The gnarled yet clear drum work and angelic lead vocal feel like they are embedded in a sea of lush, warm pads and atmospheres, pulling you into deep excitement. The grip and pull of this poppy but underground track won't let you go until the very end, leaving you wanting to dive right back in. With bright spots, the trio prove their ability to grab attention in private, club and/or festival contexts, presenting a combination we'll hopefully see out and about soon. ‘Keepsake’ introduces listeners to the record with an energetic blend of grungy, ethereal elements, showcasing Henry’s artistic flair. The track seamlessly intertwines dreamlike atmospheres with raw textures, contrasting these layers with intense drum-driven drama, tying it all together to offer a preview of the musical landscape set to define the entirety of the record.

The enigmatic soundscape of ‘Cafe Boogaloo’ carefully warps an unmistakable garage arrangement into an eclectic and hypnotic journey. As the track progresses it embraces the unconventional, introducing a disjointed groove that gradually sinks you further and further into it, defying categorisation and serving as a testament to the creative possibilities within electronic music.

‘Get The Hell Out’ is a formidable force of relentless rhythms that disregard all agreements. The integration of intense drum work with melancholic undertones opposes listeners as it bulldozes along, emerging not only as a force that invites exploration, but also as one that commands your attention - capturing the essence of its title.

In its final notes, ‘Cafe Stalker’ prioritises sound design over club functionality in order to instill a feeling of unease and suspense, crafting an atmosphere of palpable tension and lurking dread. The deliberate pace of the track trudges along, deftly building tension until it inevitably brings the record to a grinding halt.

The digital bonus offers a deconstructed version of ‘Get The Hell Out’ through a 2-step rendition, reminiscent of the iconic days of Big Apple Records and its influence. This interpretation remains faithful to the original composition’s substance and rhythm, merging the nostalgia of early rave culture with Henry’s modern-day touch.
