Rudeboy is a DJ and producer of the young generation, who is responsible for the development of the Tri-City electronic music scene. As a resident, promoter and main representative of management, he successfully builds strength of the Crackhouse club to make this space a provider of many musical impressions, emotions and unforgettable nights. Despite his young age, he quickly absorbed the sounds and inspirations that electronic music gave him from the very beginning. Setting out on his beautiful journey of musical passion, there was always one thought and rule in his head - "music knows no limits ...". This allowed him to build an artist profile who in his sets played live can combine elements of such genres as: detroit, hardgroove, techno, and sometimes also breakbeat. The multidimensional musical scope of Rudeboy determines not only its scenic character, but above all it is always a different, interesting and unique narrative for the partygoers gathered in the club. A well-told story, however, is not possible without a carefully prepared selection. His choices are dominated by tracks with rhythmic percussion elements, giving them a groove fanning the dance floor. Although he himself has a problem with describing his own style, the priority of his performance must always be a good vibe!

For this edition of HYPNO sounds we invited our first international guest to lay down this unrestraining hour of raw pulsating rhythms and techno tools that truely exemplifies the core of where HYPNO identifies itself. 

Now situating themselves in the infamous techno mecca that is Berlin. Since then their sound and taste have taken huge leaps since leaving Sydney and with a podcast that is now garnering massive local respect and nearing the half century mark, it is was a simple call for the HYPNO team to be able to showcase this finesse laden mix from a real future talent within the underground scene that keeps on thriving.

HYPNO SOUNDS 3.0

Jan Goertz's creative work is largely driven by the desire to test and redefine his limits in competition with technology. This is one of the reasons why he is known for his 4-deck mixes containing a multitude of tracks and loops. First two and then three players simply became too easy. The motivation to DJ, however, also comes from the calmness that is triggered in his otherwise very bustling head during the process. And of course the fun!
His goal in djing is the creation of an "endless groove" which is diving through different atmospheres and subgenres of techno. By breaking up track structures, Jan wants to form a mix as a "unity from its individual parts, instead of just stringing songs together."
Primarily, Jan draws inspiration from the club context - both as a guest and as an artist. For him, techno is first and foremost "functional and works for and in a club. That's what this music is made for."
Nevertheless the layering wizard also tries to combine smooth vibes with strong grooves for his podcasts and the pleasure of listening techno outside of a club. Enjoy the ride!

Kasper Melchior is a danish DJ, resident at Ved Siden Af and a core member of the Copenhagen techno scene for around 15 years. 
He played a key part in developing the pulsating local scene we know today by organizing and hosting parties in Copenhagen, from established clubs to DIY raves. Currently organizing the party series Extended Family along with Henrik Krog and Tight Cherry.

For episode 47 we have none other than Josefine Hellström, founder of Catharsis and resident at Alleycat Anthem. 

It is the raw tonality and temperament that makes Josefine a fearsome reputation as a selector. Straight to the point with elements of colorful melodies, reflected through infectious tribal-esque rhythms and old school flavors - is what appears throughout her music and in her sets. As a music collector, Josefine’s preferred format as a DJ is vinyl and her techno is a powerful intent to build tension, climaxing into a frenzy of emotions, and also the reason why Josefine is one of the most sought-after DJs in the Scandinavian region. 

Interview with Josefine Hellström: 

Q: What made you start DJing?
A: It all started on the dancefloor. I’ve always loved a proper rave, and back in 2011-2012, the underground scene in Malmö was thriving. It gave me a space to explore and fall in love with techno, and I started producing and mixing around the same time. I’ve been obsessed with music since I was born, though, and began playing the piano at a young age. It’s in my blood. But I found my true home and creativity in techno.
 

Q: Describe your style in three words.
A: Timeless, dynamic, cathartic
 

Q: Your best set in 2023/2024?
A: Impossible to choose! If I had to pick two, they’d probably be my set at Fokus open air last summer and my recent b2b2b2b at Pissa i Motvind (Inkonst) with Kalevi Palomäki, Johanna Knutsson and Kanyl. Both were amazing.
 

Q: Your favorite track right now?
A:  Introversion - Mania
 

Q: A track you never get tired of?
A: Ferdinger – Plein Soleil


Q: Where can one find the best falafel in Malmö?
A: Värnhems Falafel. It's on another level.
