Jason Peters (formerly known as JP Soul) is a DJ/producer and label boss for Roam Recordings. Jason got his start DJing raves on the East Coast of the US in the early 90s, held a weekly residency for 8 years starting in Buffalo New York, and then moved to San Francisco where he has been releasing music since 2001. Through the years Jason has developed a diverse style and can just as easily be found playing a disco set at the beach or a dark psychedelic set at a late night warehouse. As a producer, in addition to releasing music on his own label he has releases on Dusk, Nein, Leng, Whiskey Disco, Wicked, Rotten City, Emerald and Doreen, Logical, and many others.

As an internationally recognized artist Jason Peters has played top events such as Block 9 at Glastonbury, Red Light Radio in Amsterdam, La Dame Noir in Marseille, Kater Blau in Berlin and the Alfresco festival in the UK. Jason is also a long time staple of the San Francisco dance music community where he plays regularly for some of SF’s more discerning clubs and promoters such as Sunset Sound System, Housepitality, Monarch, and The Great Northern among others. He has also branched out to the LA scene and is currently a resident at The Yard and DJs for parties such as Dusk, Better Late, and Who is Jack.

Beyond The Struttopshere is a sonic collaboration between Leo Strutt (Strutt Bros DJs) and Ben Chetwood (Flying Mojito Bros, Damian Lazarus’s Ancient Moons) aimed at channelling their considerable musical production experience and boundless love of cosmic chugging dark disco. Their debut EP, New Frontier, was released on Gouranga in late 2020 and featured remixes from heavyweights of the scene: James Rod, Mufti and K-Effect. The title track found much acclaim among Andrew Weatherall and Sean Johnston’s A Love From Outer Space online fraternity and was featured in The Juan Mclean’s (DFA Records) contribution to Tim Sweeney’s Beats In Space mix series. In 2021, the boys released their second EP, ‘Celestial Drift’, on Mélopée Records with Mexican dark disco wizard Roliva delivering a stellar remix. They then featured on Mélopée’s inaugural VA compilation, with the ZZ Top inspired ‘Pontiac Firebird’, and later that year performed remix duties for hybrid alien rock trailblazers, aka The Menzia, on Ilya Santana’s comic disco imprint (Astrolead Recordings). 

Their now trademark sound combines fat chugging basslines with reverbed guitar riffs, 80s-tinged cosmic synths, crunchy power cords, gnarly arpeggiators, spacey 303s, Italo drum fills, and swirling psychedelic delay lines. The boys have a busy year ahead with another hotly anticipated release on Gouranga, now their flagship label, as well as guest mixes on IN DARK WE TRUST, Counterterraism and Heartwood FM. This summer you can catch them DJ’ing at Glastonbury’s infamous Rabbit Hole, Noisily, Secret Garden Party and Heartwood Festival. In the meantime, strap yourselves in for an intergalactic ride Beyond The Struttosphere!

Counterterraism Guest Mix 227: Beyond The Struttosphere

After their remix of 'Ritmica La Noar' from Eliezer & Mufti, included on Eliezer's recent release on Play Pal, French duo Kimshies are back on board, this time on our mix series, with one hour that faithfully reflects their signature sound of raw, cold and twisted analogue grooves.

In 2004 they released "Chicago 72", limited to 500 vinyl copies and it was not until May 2018, when the public discovered it during Solomun's 'Cercle' set at the Orange Roman Theatre.
Peo Watson and Bijou Williams have known each other for over 20 years now but it was in part this late exposure, what made them get back together in the studio and start making new music again. Music  we've seen released lately on labels such as Aeon, Ombra Intl, Duro or with us at Play Pal.

From Djin to performing as a live band we could not be more excited about hosting him at Revolver in but a few day's time!!
