It is said that powerful magic - the kind that dances upon the fine edge of madness, was once cast here a long time ago. At least, that's the general suspicion to explain the effects visible only during a full moon. 

Those involved in any of the magical classes say they sense lingering magic, which suggests that the suspicions may be true. There are also those that relentlessly investigate this occurrence but continually fail to grasp any solid answers. What was the intended purpose, and was it successful? The answers may one day help to prepare for an imminent threat, but most speculate that if something were to happen, it would have happened a long time ago.

Shadow Fields

Welcome to the Wandering Ridge. Despite its name, the area does not wander. While possible, it doesn't. People wander. They also get lost. In the woods. Why?

The snow in this area is ever so slightly infused with a peculiar kind of magic that will disorient anyone who has not been previously exposed to its effects. It tends to last for a few days.

The area of the frost-forest like zone is quite large with a mountain of ice at its center. It's recommended to either travel with someone who has been to Wandering Ridge before, or travel with at least two weeks of food and survival supplies.

Wandering Ridge

The Crimson Tower can be found in the underground regions, and contributes greatly to the higher temperatures above ground. The flames burn hot and bright, but can be put out temporarily if adventurers manage to clear out the creatures inside the tower.

Clearing the tower means gaining access to other areas of the nearby cavern that are normally inaccessible. Mostly used for quest related items. It's generally thought that dealing with the heat is actually more troublesome than the creatures within. Don't worry - inside the Crimson Tower isn't nearly as hot as outside.
