Fun Boi is the project of Matty James, a hard-working industry pro hailing from Sydney, Australia. Captivated by the pulsating beats and neon lights leaking from club basements and warehouses, Matty dived into Sydney nightlife and a degree in audio-engineering. Driven by a relentless passion for electronica, honed his skills as a DJ, while juggling his studies and eventually, running Sydney&#39;s infamous Club 77. This experience gave him invaluable insights into the inner workings of the music industry, allowing him to further refine his craft as a DJ and producer.

A man of as many hats as continously explores new genres and styles, His latest and greatest iteration is Fun Boi. He has a reputation behind the decks for his distinctive and eclectic blend of deep house, disco, and techno. His original productions take inspiration from disco to IDM. His funky basslines, playful melodies, and intricate, layered percussion, creating a unique blend of sounds that transport listeners on a sonic journey.

‘Missing You’ is back for 2014 with a brace of new mixes and set for release on both digital and physical formats over the coming weeks.



Originally released to widespread acclaim in May last year, the sun-blissed grooves and melodies of ‘Missing You’ are back for 2014 with a brace of new mixes and set for release on both digital and vinyl formats over the coming weeks.



On the A-side of this new package is something rather special. Extra Dry originally approached Frankie Knuckles and Eric Kupper to produce a Director’s Cut remix on this record early in 2014. In his own words Eric Kupper explains how the mix came about…



“I have been regularly playing the original version of this amazingly beautiful record since I first received it last year and I was originally scheduled to do this mix with my musical partner-in-crime, Frankie Knuckles. After his untimely passing, I still really wanted to remix this record – in the Director’s Cut style we had carefully honed over the years – with his guidance from above. “And I’m Still Missing Him”…forever. I love you Frankie” – ERIC KUPPER (JUNE 2014)

 

It is with real honor and respect that we present Eric Kupper’s ‘Director’s Cut Tribute To FK’ Mix on this release.

Leading up the B-side are Nineteen96. Fresh from a recent release on Strictly Rhythm, the Nineteen96 boys deliver a mix that take ‘Missing You’ in a really fresh direction. The digital package is completed by the two mixes from Artful and Ridney themselves while the vinyl release feature the exclusive ‘Vinyl-a-pella’.



This release on ‘Missing You’  will be available exclusively on Traxsource from Monday 21st July with a full digital release following on Monday 18th August. Limited edition red 12” vinyl will be available in September. This release has been put together by Extra Dry in collaboration with SoSure Music. A long-time friend of Defected, the prolific house legend Sandy Rivera collaborates with certified house legend Mike Dunn. New York meets Chicago as Rivera is joined by his fellow Defected House Master, and together the two deliver some American house music excellence. ‘I Won’t Let Go’ features vocals from London’s April Morgan, a frequent collaborator of Rivera who previously worked with him on 2013’s ‘Fall For You’, now a modern record box staple. They are joined by Mike Dunn, whose signature vocal style has featured on some of house music’s most memorable tracks over the past three decades. As the two vocalists perform over the effortlessly melodic composition, Rivera displays his hypnotic production skills with subtleties that deserve a close listen.
