Tezcatlipoca was a central deity in Aztec religion, and his main festival was the Toxcatl ceremony celebrated in the month of May. The Aztecs also used the name Tepopochtli (smoking) to refer to the month of Toxcatl. The name of the corresponding month in other Mesoamerican cultures often have to do with smoke, steam or clouds.

Tezcatlipoca's nagual, his animal counterpart, was the jaguar and his jaguar aspect was the deity Tepeyollotl ("Mountainheart").

The cyclical nature they observed every day and every year was portrayed not through science or philosophical debate, but utter reverence and respect for the spiritual beings they believed were the cause of these events. It was gods like Tezcatlipoca that solidified this notion, representing both the silent wind and thunderous war.

Renato Zanon aka ZEROBALA started his musical life in childhood in alternative bands and then spent a long time producing shows, parties and festivals in different Brazilian cities.

In the time of a pandemic, where all events stopped, the producer and select began to study and produce his own tropical electronic music and dedicate himself entirely to his artistic project.

ZERO already accumulates releases on important tropical electronic music labels such as Tropical Twista, Bioma, Floklorebeat, Sim Simma (Ireland) and a few others. In addition to engaging different dance floors in various regions of Brazil such as São Paulo, Florianopolis, Bahia, Rio de Janeiro and Campo Grande, with their warm sets that flow around Latin, Brazilian and Afrobeats electronic rhythms.

The mother culture: The Olmecs

Mexico’s Preclassic period generally coincides with the height of the Olmec civilization, from about 1300-400 B.C. Considered Mesoamerica‘s mother culture, these enigmatic people inhabited the tropical plains of today’s Gulf Coast, including the states of Veracruz and Tabasco. 

The Olmec created a basic calendar, developed a writing system and established principles of urban layout and architecture, all of which would be perfected by the Maya, who began developing late in the Preclassic. During this period, Greece came through its Dark Age and into (and out of) its Classical Period, the Roman Empire was founded and Buddha was born.

The Olmecs were the first to leave signs of their culture for succeeding civilizations to contemplate, but the colossal stone heads, each carved from basalt rock weighing as much as 30 tons procured from hundreds of miles away, raise more questions than they answer. The best place to ponder those mysteries is at Parque Museo La Venta in Villahermosa, capital of Tabasco State, which houses some of these enormous carvings.
