This is a very early beat which I made in October 2016 having just moved away from home to start my time studying at university.

I didn't know much about production at all and was just excited to chop up and flip samples, without thinking much about how my drums were sounding in comparison. In these earlier beats I focused almost completely on having a 'dope flip' of a 'dope sample', and did little to develop and mix other areas of the track. Although this impacted the overall quality of my earlier beats, I think that it allowed me to really immerse myself into the art of chopping and flipping samples, and helped me to develop my ear for melodies and loops, as well as honing my general skills of chopping and looping on the MPC2000.

I've now been able to really improve the drums, and I'm much happier with how the beat sounds, and feel like I've finally done the sample justice.
