Partial Press Release: The 41st release on microCastle welcomes Khen to the label for his debut EP. The young Israeli artist has been touted as one of his country's foremost electronic music talents. Undoubtedly a future global star, the long-time favourite of Hernan Cattaneo, Guy J and Guy Mantzur has risen to his greatest heights in 2015, with a recent release on Lost & Found Records, preceded by similarly excellent material for Sudbeat Music and Parquet Recordings. Now closing the year out on a high note, Khen makes his long awaited debut on microCastle with the 'Pollen Spreader' EP, alongside a remix from the always excellent Luca Bacchetti.

The EP's lead piece 'Sunflakes' has been the subject of much mystery since the summer season. Following several airings by Hernan Cattaneo, Guy J and Guy Mantzur, the collective underground continued to wonder who crafted this poignant creation. The rugged energy and timeless emotive qualities may have been a dead giveaway for some of Khen's most diehard fans, but now the magic of 'Sunflakes' is finally unveiled to the world. Following a trip to Malta for a weekend and gig with Guy J the composition came together quickly and has been sending dance floors into a frenzy ever since. As Khen describes "When I was asked by microCastle for a main melody track it took me a couple of months to start working on it, not only because I didn’t have time but because I was almost afraid to start a new session with the possibility of no success, and one day it just happened in a special summer mood with the inspiration after my first Lost and Found night in Malta. This is what I call funky, melodic and progressive minded, full of emotions."

The techno inspired 'Emergency Routine' follows with its big chunky, beats and shimmering overlays, which are just enough to heighten your emotions and initiate a break full of hope and tranquility. In Khen's own words: "I was searching for live instruments, strings, drums and bass guitar together with analogue synths to make a spacious but dramatic atmosphere, and the name reminds me of the difficult days of the security situation in my country."

Madloch's Sound Avenue imprint begins their 2019 journey by showcasing new interpretations of Matias Vila's 'Ahora'. Originally released in July of 2018 on the label's 'Summer Sampler', it found the Argentina born, Spanish based artist crafting an organic, highly creative production with a myriad of psychedelic concepts. Earning praise from Adana Twins, Audiofly and Kollektiv Turmstrasse, 'Ahora' now gets remade by Stelios Vassiloudis and Eran Aviner & Hermanez for the new year. 

The second and final interpretation of 'Ahora' finds Eran Aviner and Hermanez presenting their debut collaborative effort. As one of Belgium's most cutting edge artists, Eran Aviner is highly selective in choosing his production projects. His short but meticulous discography is highlighted by appearances on Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music and Guy Mantzur's Plattenbank Records. Also the co-founder of 'Edge', a leading nightlife brand and record label in Belgium, Eran has shared the stage with Sasha, John Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo, Guy J, Kiasmos and more. Also hailing from Belgium and making his Sound Avenue debut is Michael Coninx aka Hermanez. Perhaps best known for his timeless, tech-soul productions on Mobilee Records, Noir Music, Suara, Traum and his own Aella imprint, the Belgian artist has recently found a place in the deeper, dreamier spectrum of house with an EP on Guy J's Lost & Found Records and a soon to be released project on All Day I Dream. Now pairing up with fellow countryman Eran Aviner, the duo provide a stunning interpretation of 'Ahora' to close the release out. Building hypnotically; warm beats, organic drums and rugged bass tones unite for a highly rhythmic, free flowing framework. Smooth chord changes deliver a subtle yet powerful shift in emotive energy, as astral effects further saturate your senses as the main break commences. Coming to full fruition, the musical narrative evolves through timely modulation, creating a near two minute stretch of effervescent electronics and heartfelt melodic clusters, elegantly peaking and perfectly setting up a rousing finale. Argentinian producer, Ivan Sandhas, seems to be on fire these days as he carves out his sound for all to enjoy. Modern Agenda always loves a great remake of an older favourite and this is exactly what Ivan delivers in his remix of Paul Hazendonk’s and Amber Long’s tune, Closer. Ivan’s remake is deep, dreamy and very melodic, perfect to set the mood right in any situation.
