Trium Circulorum 'Predictive Algorithm'

We are proud to invite Finish artist Luke Lund for this [s-h] podcast number 008. First, we were big big fan of his tumblr, then we discovered that he was a complete artist: musician, label owner, tasteful digger… So, we asked him for a mix, to see what he’s all about and here it is: a great selection mostly made of obscure archive material from the 70's-80's, mixed live with a tape delay and analog reverbs. He manages to create a deep journey that according to him reminds "this feeling of being in a dream, not being dreamy or sleep-inducing music, but these moments when everything feels calm and normal, when you stop and observe, what's coming from your subconscious is actually strange and surreal". Enjoy!

There’s a point at which everything returns to where it started. Whether it be a first trip across the planet, the inspiration of a timeless and nearly faceless album of simple beat/bass/drone/drift, or programming beats with whatever electronic boxes could be find, the team behind HAVE DEMONS have dialed it backwards. A first salvo fired together is on offer, deriving from the origin point of their electronic composition collective consciousness. Submerged, Luke Lund (https://soundcloud.com/weight-less) and nem0 are the team in question here, and the HAVE DEMONS project began on a whim and yielded the most serious return to dark hop with their "Fire Consumes Thin Air" EP. 

Portland’s Submerged, the originator of the legendary Ohm Resistance (https://soundcloud.com/ohm-resistance), alongside You Will Choose Fire bandmate, Montana beat maven and synth programmer nem0, collided with Luke Lund, the progenitor behind Finland’s Terranean net label, and managed to connect all the dots between them and fuse together four stylish tracks of heavy-slab beat-work. HAVE DEMONS is a cross cultural electronic production team, from the Northwest Coast of the USA to Southwest Finland, constructing the most isolationist, bass heavy, non-conforming beat structures in the current decade. And it all harkens back to an era when all 3 began consuming and composing a style nearly lost to the ages: dark hop.

For fans of Scorn, Mothboy, NOS, Hednod, WordSound, OCOSI, Horchata, these are not simply derivative pastiches of a forgotten time. "Fire Consumes Thin Air" answers the question most of us have never asked - what if the dark hop era had continued to the present day? These four pieces give us a glimmer of an answer, new hope for the future, and the desire for more.
