Playground Records presents its 68th main catalogue release, Late Night Shit, a posthumous work from our beloved Canadian-Mexican friend and artist Ali X. This record had already been prepared and sent for distribution during Ali’s lifetime, and he was deeply enthusiastic and full of ideas about its release. With three original tracks and a remix by Chicago’s BRKN, Late Night Shit embodies everything Ali X stood for: raw, fearless energy where House and Indie collide in wild, dirty grooves made for the after-hours. Distorted basslines, twisted rhythms and cool, no-rules attitude mark a sound that is unapologetic, sweaty and pure late-night chaos—just as Ali envisioned.

After consulting Ali’s closest friends, collaborators Don Jon and GuzzX (who appear on two of the original tracks), and BRKN (who delivers the remix), we agreed to honour his wish and release this record exactly as planned. All proceeds will be donated to his family as a way of supporting those he loved most. Late Night Shit now stands as a tribute to Ali X—a fearless creator, a generous soul, and an unforgettable friend. His spirit lives on in the music, in his collaborators, and in everyone who dances to his sound. Ali X forever.

We’re very pleased to continue the global journey that the Bside Incoming series is taking us on, as we are welcomed into the record bag of the Berlin based Aussie - Rudolf C. 

There is no doubt that Australia has seen the rise of some of the most exciting electronic producers this decade. Rudolf C's passion for extraterrestrial electro has pushed boundaries in the genre, from producing soothing experimental floaty breaks, to pounding club ready electro.

In 2015 Rudolf C and Shedbug created Salt Mines Record to drive the sound they aimed to push forward. Each release since has been filled with a difficult to master balance of both heavy hitting club tracks while maintaining emotion with creative pads and synths. Salt Mines has pressed records with some of the biggest producers in the electro/extraterrestrial scene; Jenson Interceptor, Roza Terenzi, Reptant, Shedbug, Escape Artist and more all contributing. 

Rudolf C, has himself released tracks on labels like X-Kalay as well as his own Salt Mines baby. The rest of the time you can find him touring across Europe and tearing up many a dance floor with his partner in crime Shedbug. Always endeavouring to put their talented colleagues in the spotlight and share their scene’s music with clubs across the continent, that’s what we love to see.

Welcome to Episode 1 of 'New Music Energy' - my new radio show dedicated entirely to new music. 

Since finishing my BBC Residency, and having pretty much all my gigs cancelled this year, I haven't had as many opportunities as usual to share my favourite music with the world! I know I have my NTS show but that often has different themes and I just wanted a space where I could focus on new artists and releases. So here it is...!
