So…here’s a little something I put together in memory of Nobel Kim and for the New Year. This mix runs the gambit of the music we used to play together, ranging from deep stuff by Pete Moss, something techy from Solaris Heights, Echomen (for nostalgic purposes), to deep & dubby progressive goodies. 

The dove represents Nobel flying to the sun he used to look at during sunset from the view of his house. The cover art also relates to his last mix he put out called 'Give Me Sunshine'.

Nobel always pushed me to be a better DJ, even if indirectly. We were always playing music non-stop, be it at a venue, a house party, or at home in an effort to mix as perfect as humanly possible. The music we share may bring joy to people, but on the flip side for both of us, our taste in music is spawned from pain and sorrow we both experienced when we were children. It is through our music that we spark light from that darkness. This was our bond, an aspect Nobel and I would examine when discussing and internalizing the music we played.

The New Year presents an opportunity for us to push forward from our losses. It’s also an opportunity to break old habits, a chance to build a temple out of our souls rather than a shack. ’The pain of the moment, and the pain we may feel due to the discomfort we have about the prospect of doing something out of our element in order to better ourselves, DOES NOT COMPARE TO THE PAIN OF REGRET, the pain for not taking action, or the pain we feel when we look back at our personal history and think to ourselves that ‘I should have done this, or I should have done that!’. I challenge all of you, as I’ve recently challenged myself, to become the person you’ve always wanted to be. Life is too short to let the ‘pain of the moment’ get in the way of you reaching your true potential, and contributing the good things each of you has to offer in order to help other people reach their’s.
